I'm new to the HD thing and picked up the samsung LCD LN-T4661F TV and dvd recorder DVD-R160, but I don't know which HDMI cable to buy.
The specs on CNET say the TV has 1.3 input's, but I can't find anything about the dvd recorder. The samsung website does not fully explain either.
Should I get version 1.1,1.2 or 1.3? Monster cables seems expensive. Is there an alternative? Any suggestions appreciated as I don't want to spend an arm and a leg for a cable.
Thnx
CHECK OUT MONOPRICE.com cables, which are very good and reasonably priced. PHILIPS ELECTRONICS also makes very decent cables, well priced, available at many locations, including WAL*MART.
Good shopping,
Riverledge.
for the info on the monoprice cables. Any idea if I should go with hdmi 1.3?
HDMI CABLES ARE NOT MY SPECIALITY, (I'm already wired; as it were, yucck, yucck.)
Best wishes and shopping,
Riverledge.
I believe that the version (1.1, 1.2, 1.3) is refering to the encoding/decoding at either end ,and not the cable itself. Basically, if it has the same connetor ,it's the same( except possibly bandwidth, but I think it's all about types of control sent back and forth thru cable; not a biggie.)
I found a belkline 1.3 cable at walmart for $30 CDN. It seems to be working fine therefore it's a steal compared to the monster's version.
