Hello, my name is Alex and I wrote the Linux Chaser theme song. I am very surprised by the huge controversy surrounding the jingle. All I set out to do was write a little quirky song to fit with the mood of the podcast I love ![]()
Some of you have said you love the jingle, while others have taken an antagonistic approach towards my piece of work. But I am not hurt. I'd be happy to edit or re-write the song if everyone agreed on a direction, as I don't believe that would compromise my artistic integrity. Unfortunately, however, there is no consensus; each of you has a totally different opinion on what the jingle should sound like. As they say; two podcast listeners, three opinions.
I'd like to thank the podcast listener who wrote 'The Linux Chaser theme song is the single most important piece of music of the past twenty years'. I'm honored you feel that way - I'm happy that through the Linux Chaser jingle my music has finally reached global acceptance and success and been embraced by so many people across the globe. Conceptualizing the Linux Chaser theme song, writing it and recording took several months of gargantuan efforts and many, many sleepless nights. My personal life, health and family unfortunately paid the price for the ambitious endeavor.
I'm thinking the best compromise might be to change the song every couple of months so as to avoid monotony (such as). Maybe Buzz Out Loud can unveil a new Linux Chaser jingle on the first day of each season. I'd be happy to do this if most of you agree. I welcome your input on this proposal and I'm open to other suggestions.
P.S. Actually, the Linux Chaser theme song only took 30 minutes to write and record, after a couple of beers.
Makes anything sounds good when you have enough of them
:P
I personally like the jingle because it give it a break and adds something special..
Honestly.. if you can come up with a replacement for it (other people) or give a suggestion i am sure the maker would change it..
so as my father would say "%#&$ or get off the pot..."
Keep it the way it is. I'm not a linux fanboy and don't much care for the "linux chaser" concept as I'm sure it will beget further "chasers". Can't believe we haven't had a zune chaser request from some zune fanboy. Guess there aren't any. ![]()
That said, if you like it and the hosts like it, let anyone who doesn't create their own and post it for review.
Bottoms up!
But it just wasn't funny after the first couple of times. Call it Achey Breaky syndrome. I'd rather they follow up with a linux chaser without the music at all.
How is it any different from other musical cues in other podcasts? Gagettes has that catchy tune for Pink Watch and I don't hear any complaints there.
And besides, it's not like it's hard or the ears or anything.
Do you have a link for the freaks that would want to DL it?
Is it DRMed?
Ogg version?
And did you release it under a copyleft license like CC ShareAlike?
LOL you crack me up
No, it's not DRM'd (even though I used to work in that field), no ogg version, etc.
As the rightful creator of the tune I am automatically protected by copyright laws.
No, I don't have it posted anywhere (is there an area in this forum where I can post it?) , but if anyone really wants it, I'm happy to e-mail it privately (un-DRM'd!)
Could you email the song to matthewnetnetwork@gmail.com please?
Thanks!

-->they need a way to PM ppl on this forum, but ah well.
Music is art. We know what we like. Some stand out more than others. Even the people who do "Bad Art" are better than most of us. That doesn't mean we don't get tied of listening, or looking at some things.
Queen Another one Bites the Dust. I loved that song when it first came out. Fresh, In your face, and overplayed to the point of pain. I now cringe when it comes on.
I like the linux chaser, I love the jingle. Leave it the way it is, all those people can mute their mp3 device for the 3 seconds it takes to play.
I think it's great as is, it's kind of like other BOLisms that start from nothing and take on a life of their own like "Well Actually". Come to think of it where's the Well Actually theme?
