Zoho is a full featured online office powered by a great collaboration environment. Before you look at SharePoint and other enterprise level collaboration technologies, I would strongly suggest giving ZOHO a try. It is free to use, but I am almost confident that they will charge for the services in the near future.
The following services are available:
Zoho Sheet - Online spreadsheet service.
Zoho Meeting - Zoho Meeting - Web Conferencing
Zoho Show - Online presentation tool
Zoho Writer - Online word processor
Zoho Notebook - Online Note Taker
Zoho Creator - Online web applications creator.
Zoho Planner - Online organizing tool.
Zoho Wiki - Online Wiki with public, private & group permissions
Zoho Chat - Instant messaging and group chat tool
Try it and I would appreciate the feedback.

Quick feedback on ZOHO

I don't like that there is no home page. If one is in Zoho Writer, the company logo is a dead link. To move away, users "switch" to another feature such as Zoho Sheet. Each switch opens a new window (not sure I like that, either).
Since I have Excel, Word, etc., I was most interested in seeing the organization/planning feature. It seemed too limited to be useful to me.
On the other hand, I really like the idea of being able to share documents online without having to deal with my company's limited helpfulness when it comes to file sharing or doing anything else remotely connected to the server, network security, etc. Zoho's spreadsheet seems more advanced then Google's version, too (like I said, this is just a first impression).
Why not use

I don't like soem of the features of Zoho, but it's useful for transfering stuff between home and school. As for OpenOffice, I tried it and I didn't like it because of the updating. Whenever you want to update it, it always wants you to uninstall/reinstall the whole program. You have to download a whole new program (100+MB's), and I don't go for that. I can understand it for some important features, but not for just simple updates. I don't use it for that reason.

I'm unsure about Zoho due to many reasons. The most damming is the amount of spam in forums you encounter. But I see it as failing for all the same reasons that all other online suites have failed.

I personally see even more things moving to online. I see many people using Google Docs (much as I don't like that), and all sorts of other online stuff. There are entire online OS's and people use those. It's just easier to use some of that kind of stuff, and easier for transfering data back and forth. If everything you do on a computer is online, you don't have to worry about where you are, you can access anything, anywhere.
I don't know about Zoho spammers, I'm not in the forums, I just use the programs and learn as I go. But I'd be interested why you think that stuff like this will fail. I'm not disputing you, I'm curious.

The original poster spammed these forums and this is their remaining sole entry. You can find this spam all over.
The issue comes to a head when the day comes and you have your paper inaccessible due to them or lack of internet access. Online is great but would you put your job, grades, employment, defense, offense, etc at risk just to have online docs?

I never really thought about having to access stuff and it not being available due to internet being down, or the site being down. some stuff to ponder!
