What is the differents between a nvida 5200 graffics card from hp or bfg or any other supplier ? I checked today and hp wants 151.96 for a replacement with exchange. Newegg wants between 24.00 to 79.00. I don't understand ? Does it have to do with original equipment or what. HP Pavilion a450n - XP Home
That HP will stock spares at that day's price. So if a 5200 was 200 bucks when they filled their spares warehouse then that sets the price. Newegg doesn't stock such so they will be at today's prices.

I was not sure about the cards if they are the same why pay more right. thank you to R. Proffit from sonny
One was made years ago and Newegg's are likely to be months old. While functional identical (check for dimensions too) I offered why the price difference.
If newegg has your same size 5200 then it's fine. BUT why not boost that card to something on this list?

Thanks for the address to toms it was very informitive as I'm learning alot still. I would like to know can I upgrade to a 8800GTX card from a 5200 card? Also will it work with my HP a450n. I do play alot of games and do alot of pictures also some video's. What would advise for a replacement for my 5200 card?
Sonny
Check the slot type and if your machine has the needed power supply.
I have to decline doing this for you.
Bob
How do you check slot type?
Sonny
My favorite is to look at the slot. Visually identifying has never been easier with google.com and it's pictures or images.
I also might look at hp.com, find my model's home page and see their specifications.
Bob
I looked at hp and it said I have a Geforce FX 5200 AGP2 8X card. I have a 250 watt power supply
Sonny
You can see if your machine can support your choice of card.
