Creative Ze V Plus Broken...

by VIC4878 - 9/12/07 10:01 AM

I've purchased Creative Zen V Plus 1 Gb in March 2007 and it is already broken. When I turn it on it freezes up and after re-setting it always freezes up again...plus my earphones are gone too. It only lasted 6 months...I am very dissapointed...Did this happen to anyone else? I thought Creative was suppose to be decent quality MP3 Player...

My zen v did that

by wandalynn1 - 9/12/07 4:11 PM In reply to: Creative Ze V Plus Broken... by VIC4878

I'd had it freeze up in the middle of a track. Nothing new, pressed the reset button. It resumed play in the middle of the track it was playing when it froze - and frozen again, and again....
It seemed like the track itself had become corrupted. I connected the player to my computer with the creative software and deleted the problem track. The player booted, played fine once that track was gone. I was able to reload the track later with no problems.
I hope this solution works for you.

Reset button

by quidditchseeker - 9/13/07 12:10 PM In reply to: My zen v did that by wandalynn1

I don't know what Zen V plus you have, but the ones a few of my friends and I have require a straight pin to reset, it's a microscopic hole on the left side of the player, not a button. I've owned mine for eight months and have never experienced any of these issues, but I keep my firmware up to date.
I also own a 30GB video iPod and love my Zen V plus much more. Update the fimware and then see if that doesn't solve the problem.
I've had more problems with my iPod then I ever had with any Creative Labs player I've owned.

Reset Button

by wandalynn1 - 9/13/07 4:18 PM In reply to: Reset button by quidditchseeker

or whatever it is, you press by inserting the end of an earring post or open end of a paperclip into a small hole on the side of the player. I've had the player freeze up maybe 5-6 times in the time I've had it, a little less than a year.

I'll check for firmware. I did have to update to transfer large netlibrary files to the player.

Thanks

I KNOW THE PROBLEMMM!!!!

by gascan555 - 9/12/07 6:19 PM In reply to: Creative Ze V Plus Broken... by VIC4878

same thing happened to my friend. reinstall the firmware and you should be up and running. Oh, btw, I have Creative's Zen Vision W and I love it. The interface is very handy with context sensitive menus and the robustness of the player all in all is outstanding. I'm gonna go buy a Zen V plus now!

should i buy v plus?!!

by fhinz - 9/12/07 10:41 PM In reply to: I KNOW THE PROBLEMMM!!!! by gascan555

I keep hearing ppl complaining abt this player always freeze.
Loves the creative players' feature, especially v plus but if it always has problem freezing when playing a track, dunno if it's good for me. Just want a Creative player with storage at least 4GB that I can use wherever I want - commuting, exercising, activities that needs lots of moving :D

Definatly

It's the perfect player for you. And every problem it's had has been fixed by updating to the latest firmware. I'd say go for it!

Creative Z V plus is broken

by VIC4878 - 9/15/07 4:49 AM In reply to: Creative Ze V Plus Broken... by VIC4878

Thanks,everyone

My Ctreative is beyond repair...I've tried your suggestions but when I connect my player to the computer it is no longer recognized. I am sending it back to get my $$$ back ( I bought 2 yr warranty). I really did not expect for it to only last 6 months. Now I don't know what to get next..I am afraid to buy another "creative" prtoduct...Any suggestions?

Alternatives

by gascan555 - 9/15/07 4:16 PM In reply to: Creative Z V plus is broken by VIC4878

I'm sad you're giving up on Creative so soon. But it's your decision. If you're used to using the Zen interface, you'll miss the extra features but you might like Iriver's Clix players (they're very flashy) or Sandisk's Sansa's. Those are the more popular of my favorites. Go to circuit city and play around with them. Oh, and if you're looking for a big player, give the Zune a try, it's really worth it and not as ugly as you think. And finally, if you don't mind stooping down to that level, you might get an iPod (referbs get real cheap). You've got some choices.

samsung t9

by ganilla - 9/16/07 11:00 PM In reply to: Creative Z V plus is broken by VIC4878

If you gotta go with another brand imo Samsung T9 is the best alternative, as long as you get the newer firmware. Mine has been fantastic and no probs (knocks on wood), besides running out of room. So to me that new 16gb zen v + is in a class by itself until the rest of them catch up. Sounds like it's worth it to buy the extended warranty though.

Looking to replace Creative Zen V plus

by VIC4878 - 9/18/07 5:07 AM In reply to: Creative Ze V Plus Broken... by VIC4878

Well.. yesterday I got $100 back for my broken Creative Zen V Plus (1gb). I really liked it, it was sleek, small and easy to use ( I liked the size for exercise). Is there anything compatible I can get for the same $$? I paid $100 CAN for it last March (had it for 6 months). I am willing to pay a bit more to upgrade to 2 gb but not much more... Is there anything decent for that price range? Or perhaps I can get Creative Zen V plus 4gb for $129 CAN...I really don't like the idea of another mp3 player breaking again in a such short time I am not planning on bying the extended warranty again...Any suggestions/advice would be much appreciated!!!

you can read me post alittle up there about other alternatives and that pretty much sums it up. Look on eBay, you might find some great deals!
