I posted this in another forum on the net and have yet to receive help… I am hoping with the vast resources of CNET that I can get an answer to this. This Siemens phone was utilized by T-Mobile and Cingular… it has WinDoze Mobile 2003 on it. It was a very capable device and has a stylus (which I love) and a slider keyboard (insert Borat comment here). I have used (and still own) other PDA’s but none of them have wi-fi or Bluetooth. I just want this phone to stop thinking primarily that it is a phone and be able to utilize all the other slick features it has. I might even be able to do VOIP calls on the darn thing if I can figure out how to keep the phone features from draining the battery.
Please read and respond. Thanx much.
SX-66 I Don’t want phone... just PDA Wi-Fi, etc. HELP
I have had an SX-66 for a while now (sorry about being a N00B, but that can't be resolved now)... I ended the service and unlocked the phone... I thought I could use it just as a PDA and utilize all of the other neat features of the phone and not use the phone at all.
I can't figure out how to get the device to stop acting like a phone primarily, and continually running the battery down. I love the other features of the phone/pda. I just don't want it to act like a phone anymore.
I have a need for the windows mobile and the syncing with my computer and want to access the net and email... I just do not want to do it over a mobile phone network. I can't believe I am the only one in the world that might want to do this and I can't wade through all the crappy Google hits and am way too old and sorry to do a search.
Any advice or help anyone can offer is most appreciated.
PLEASE Skool me!
When I read a post with that, I immediately think "What is with that post?" and wonder why they write like that.
It usually doesn't help to misspell the product names.
As to what I use for PDA and WIFI I own an iPaq rx3115 and the PalmOne TX.
Bob
Excuse me... Windows. All of this time I thought that WinDoze was the correct spelling.
And I am not trying to buy a new PDA. I am trying to find a way to utilize one that I have in a different way then intended by the manufacturer. If it will stop thinking it is still a phone, I will be in business...
If anyone can think of how to do this I would appreciate it.
I was sharing what I use for PDA and WIFI. My pda's don't do phone calls and while I did find skype for the PDA it was not ready for prime time.
Bob
It cannot be too far off... I was very happy with the SX-66 (except as a phone). I would like to find a way to utilize it and not put in the box of other electronic devices that are ready to be recycled. I wish I still had my Newton or that Apple would make the iPod with the 80 gig HD also a PDA... seems simple enough. I do not want an iPhone since it is an almost ran at this point IMHO. I wonder when today Apple is going to make an announcement and what it will be.
I understand that HP is about to introduce another PDA that is also stylus based with a keyboard back up... I prefer the stylus and text recognition since I started to use it way back with Palm's first model and subsequent Palms that I had until I switched over to "WinDoze" based PDA's.
Bizarre. It will make discussions difficult as it may mark the poster as having an ax to grind or wield rather than the topic.
Bob
Since we are the only two discussing it and every time you post I get an email notification and I come back to see if someone has addressed the original question, maybe I should start another thread.
I am not grinding an ax. It has been referred to as that, in my circles, ever since its introduction (see how I avoided typing it so it would not upset you so) - Way back then I was using CPM or IBM-DOS... (Were you born then?). Or, are you the moderator and somehow I missed something when I read the pages of rules about posting?
Now, back to our regularly scheduled thread. Can this phone be used strictly as a PDA and does anyone know a hack or a work around?
End of HiJack.
Thanx. ;p
But I must unsubscribe. I shared what I use.
Thanx for your support. The information you provided was valuable. It was just not what I was searching for.
I am still looking.
