Top of the class - this worked for me.

by toshiba tom - 1/17/09 11:55 AM In reply to: possible solution by drmbush

Tried this after lots of other unsuccessful ideas. No idea why, but it works. I also run ICQ and Skype and they did recognise Chicony webcam, so problem seemed to be Vista/MSN Live Messenger/update related. Had been using the previous week with no problems.

Chicony webcam

by lar2lin - 12/12/07 1:38 PM In reply to: problem with my Chicony USB 2.0 Webcam by dribnif

I have a new Toshiba Satellite A215-S7444 notebook with a built-in Chicony USB 2.0 webcam running Windows Vista Home Premium and when I start the webcam it gives me the message, "graph render fail." Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Built-in webcam

by lar2lin - 12/16/07 7:20 PM In reply to: Answer to Chicony USB 2.0 Webcam by SpoiledSuezie

It tells me that my webcam is working ok, but a pic comes on an d last for a few seconds and something I get the message, "graph render fail." I don't know if this is a Toshiba problem, Vista, or Chicony.
Thanks to all who replied to my post.

Success Install Chicony USB 2.0 Webcam

by veronie_d - 4/26/08 4:47 PM In reply to: Answer to Chicony USB 2.0 Webcam by SpoiledSuezie

Model: Satellite M200
OS: Vista
Error: The driver installation file for this device is missing a necessary entry. This may be because the INF was written for Windows (% or later. Contact your hardware vendor.

Steps (In my case):
Visit Toshiba website in your region/country(Malaysia).
Goto Services & Support (Satellite M200)
Downloads Utilities & Drivers
Identify your notebook model and show drivers
Search for Software
Satellite M200 Vista: Webcam Driver (Part 1 of 3)
Satellite M200 Vista: Webcam Driver (Part 2 of 3)
Satellite M200 Vista: Webcam Driver (Part 3 of 3)
Download > Extract > Install setup.exe

The integrated webcam back to work.

Still no better

by dribnif - 9/4/07 6:49 PM In reply to: Trouble with Chicony webcam on Toshiba Notebook by tovette

I've tried rolling it back, I've even restored it to out of box, still nothing. I am not having to take it to a local authorized service center. Annoying.

Graph Render Fail message on Toshiba webcam (TOS A215-S5822)

by jtmmnm - 3/24/08 10:14 PM In reply to: what oshiba recommend to fix this problem... by nizmosan

Toshiba support does not have a clue on how to fix this problem. I have to uninstall the camera software and re-install it to enable the camera to work for a while.

Vista SP1 fixed it

by jtmmnm - 4/6/08 9:06 PM In reply to: Graph Render Fail message on Toshiba webcam (TOS A215-S5822) by jtmmnm

My "graph render fail" problem went away after I installed Vista SP1. I haven't had a failure of my webcam since then.

Vista SP1 fixed it

You need to use Windows Update to download and install Vista Service Pack 1. It was published last week.

Vista Service Pack 1

by lar2lin - 4/14/08 10:38 AM In reply to: Vista SP1 fixed it by jtmmnm

Thanks for your advice. I went to Windows Update and was able to install certain updates that had not been successfully updated before. However, I didn't find Vista Service Pack update in the list of available updates. Where can I find it?
