I can't even hazard a guess as to why your video driver killed your DVD playback.
Two options come to mind. System restore to when you could use DVD's.
Or Reformat.
Othewise it's going to take some time to troubleshoot things.
System Restore doesn't seem to have a restore point that fixes things.
And reformatting really is like a LAST resort. I hate them so much... it's like moving house (sorta).
