Wireless disconnects - Remote desktop

by vsood2 - 8/30/07 10:01 AM

Hi,
My laptop is conencted to wireless connection. Now whenever I try to connect to my machine via remote desktop, it tries to connect but doesnt' gets connected.
I go back to my computer and find myself as locked and the wirelss is disconnected. I login again (by going to the computer) and wireless conencts.
I have tried this at many wireless networks and its the same problem. I had this problem in XP and now in Vista Ultimate too.
I have intel 3945abg wireless adapter.
VNC works.... but I want remote desktop of windows since its much more superior in funtionality and performance (for Vista atleast)
Has anyone tried to remotely connect to their machines which are on wireless network from outside using your public IP?

Will be thankful for your reply.

Port Forwarding

Remote Desktop can connect to an XP Pro PC if it is directly connected to the Internet -meaning it has a public IP address. It can also connect to a PC that is on the same network via its private IP address or name. If the machine is behind NAT you will need to set the inbound ports used by RDP for port forwarding to the appropriate machine.
