Was talking to a colleague the other day about all the tech podcasts I listen to and how cool it was when I heard a kid/teen call in. Then I thought - is there anything like TWIT or BOL for kids? Has there been anything in the past? Interested to see if anyone knows of anything.
they do go to great lengths to avoid the naughty words, but maybe you were asking for a podcast with a level of understanding appropriate for a child? hmmm.
Exactly. I was thinking more of something specifically targeted to kids. It may not exist now, but I feel like it may have existed in the last tech boom and I just missed it.
My cousins who are 11 and 13 are subscribed to BOL, TWiT, DLTV, and Cranky Geeks. Most tech news podcasts are pretty accessible to children as long as they aren't too geeky or specific like This Week in Media or MacBreak Tech.
it is this is an interesting idea... I like the idea that kids can produce and give feedback on their own podcast and then move to BOL when they grow out of it. ya know? maybe a 5-10minute segment a couple times a week...
Best,
Shalin
From what I recall of one of the first live TWiTs they had a teenager in the audience who had put together a teen tech podcast network. It was aimed at teenagers so might be a little older that what you had in mind, and I don't know if it ever got off the ground, but it's the closest thing I can think of off hand to what you're looking for.
Than BOL is THE podcast for kids... But other than that.. I don't think children are verymuch interested in rumors and DRM. :P

I am a teen and as much as I enjoy BOL, I would love to use it as a source. If anyone is interested in listening or even helping, drop me a line at Alansmallen@aol.com.
I think that this would be great.
