Am i mistaken, or is there really a reason to buy something like Resevoir Dogs on Bluray? I think a dvd would suffice, because an old movie was filmed with old cameras. That content is upscaled to HD instead of being native. Newer movies and videos are recorded using HD cameras, and are native HD like the Planet Earth bluray or PS3 games, and the only game that i know of at 1920 X 1080P is Ridge Racer 7. I can definately tell the difference of 1080i and P signals, the resolution is the same but the difference is noticeable- to me anyways. Most people wont and shouldn't really notice the difference. I viewed Aeon Flux at 1080i using my HD PVR and on my PS3 using the bluray disk, the difference was imediately noticeable. Comparing Resevoir Dogs with Apocalypto on bluray was also noticealby different. Resevoir Dogs looked like a dvd, while Apocalypto looked sharper with deeper color. What do you think? Is it worth buying old movies in HD DVD or Bluray? I think not. When the price of the dvd is often half, or less.
Is high resolution.....
HD has existed for decades in analog form, you know, when you go to the movies, that's HD, that's celluloid HD. ![]()
35mm film has a lot of detail and can certainly benefit from a 1080p distribution.
good point, but would you agree that new and future movies will look better on HD DVD or Blu Ray opposed to past films?
Many new films are still done on 35mm film. And transfer to digital just fine. I guess a new film will be in far better condition. ![]()
