McAfee and Norton products did more damage for me and it took lots of effort to correct the damage. They charge for their update service but when it fails, it fails in grand style. If anyone has had similar experience, let's hear about it. AVG Free, with a little effort works well, and it's FREE! I use my computer as a communication tool. It helped me deal with the effects of HIV. Not fun, but I learned a lot. Knowledge is power and can help one heal. When my computer fails, it is like loosing a loved one. Don't know what if anything can be done about it.
Sorry but I have found few successes no matter which title when it comes to "correct the damage". The real problem is to prevent such from occurring in the first place.
But better than 1/2 the time I find the owner running P2P applications, plus applications such as CRACKZ etc. For those they are not practicing safe computing so damage is not unusual.
What I'm finding is that many were expecting said "leading" virus programs to provide a "Magic Shield" that stops damage even when the owner is misbehaving.
There is no product that will help you today in this regard.
Bob
The problem is solved - McAfee and Norton are gone - forever on my machine. Thanks for the reply. Just wanted to alert folks about these programs that do not help keep your computer free of viruses and other junk.
