Dell Inspiron 1000 Battery Problem

by jamesjimmy23 - 8/18/07 10:29 AM

When I plug in my laptop after using it on battery, it doesn't show in the corner the icon that says it's charging, it just says it's on battery power. It is being charged, but improperly. I found out that if I slam the battery in hard it will show for a few seconds that it is being charged, but then go back to showing the battery icon. I've tried cleaning the contacts on the battery but it didn't help. Would getting a new battery help?

DO NOT TELL ANYONE YOU ARE "SLAMMING"

Anything since they will void your warranty. Sadly repairs exceed replacement costs far too often so extend your warranty then call it in.

As to the battery I can't tell since I can't see the laptop.
