Do Not Use 1and1 .com

by badboyclub1 - 6/8/07 5:08 AM

They may have the biggest advertisements in magazines but it doesnt mean they are good. Be very careful and do research before signing up with anyone. Type in google 1and1 ratings or 1and1 reviews see what you find for yourself. I wouldnt use this scumbag company again if they offered it for free, remember "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR" .

I have to agree

by 4Denise - 6/9/07 3:09 PM In reply to: Do Not Use 1and1 .com by badboyclub1

I have been with 1and1 for a few years now. No matter how much I complain, they are still in the habit of periodically bouncing my incoming emails. There is no excuse for it. On top of that they are more expensive than many higher rated companies.

I'm getting out of there

thanks got i read this, cause if i landed on 1and1 after my current one i would have been majorly...mad.

1&1 sucks

by zForge - 6/20/07 5:08 PM In reply to: Do Not Use 1and1 .com by badboyclub1

I had 1&1 and I hated it, they ended up deactivating my account because they thought I wasnt a US citizen. I have since been with lunar pages http://www.lunarpages.com/id/zforgenet. I have been very happy with them and would recomend them to anybody.

1&1 deserves to go out of business

by davidamerland - 8/15/07 10:31 AM In reply to: Do Not Use 1and1 .com by badboyclub1

I have been a customer since 1999 when they were innovative and good. They have since become the most incalcitrant, least customer friendly, most incompetent hosting company on the planet. They do not answer complaints (yet they have a dedicated complaint email address), they cannot help with technical queries because they have outsourced their Tech Support to an Indian call centre where operators work off a screen. Their 0845 number costs over 30p a minute on Skype (!). They put you on hold forever and give nonsensical replies. They have the temerity to send you Quality Assessment questionnaires afterwards and they threaten you with legal action when they fail to take payment in advance for domain names you no longer need but which they deem to not have expired and therefore, as a result, charge you for them. Unless you pay all your domains go offline (including the ones you have actually paid for) rather than the ones you have not paid for.

Their blatant disregard of even basic customer service and their inability to understand that mistreating their customers is going to rebound deserves a robust customer response where we vote with our credit cards. I am moving my over 100 domains from them and, for once, I really believe this is a company that deserves to go out of business.

Transferring

by ppcadcenter - 8/16/07 9:59 AM In reply to: 1&1 deserves to go out of business by davidamerland

If you are transfering all of your sites to a shared host I really recommend www.HostMonster.com because they have great technical support. For dedicated or vps check out HostICan, Lunarpages, www.HostGator.com and if you want to save money check out www.hostingplanrebates.com before you decide. If tech support not being in India is big requirement for you, then all of my recommendations except for hostgator qualify. HostGator does have some help from India but I wouldn't rule them out before looking into them.

godaddy hosting

by ppcadcenter - 11/1/07 9:45 AM In reply to: what about by marcelomdsc

For domain registration they are great but hosting not the best.

yes

by marcelomdsc - 11/1/07 9:59 AM In reply to: godaddy hosting by ppcadcenter

I just tried godaddy for a client. For her it's fine but I didn't really like it. I don't know what I'm gonna do.
The only other one I've heard of that is supposed to be good is Dreamhost, anybody?

"I've had a different experience at 1and1
I frequently run into trouble and need help with technical problems.
1and1 has helped me in the past with quality tech support service.

Now, I'm not staying they are perfect. But they are reliable.
I'm not a push-over. When I pay for a service, I expect top, reliable service, with knowledgeable reps.

I have a hosting plan and registered over 200 domain names with them.
When I came across this thread, I mentally re-evaluated my experience
and business with 1and1.

Domains cost $5.99 and hosting plans are very affordable.
I'm not paying $9.99 per domain and neither am I paying hosting
expense for 6 or 12 months above $120.00, Did I mention
they have good customer service, and free domain identity blocking.
They charge a fee for this important feature at godaddy.
By the way I like godaddy as well.

1and1 has the ability to physically look at your desktop to see what
you see. Priceless, this cuts down on miscommunication and time.
Did I mention they have good, not superb customer service.

I also like godaddy, did I mention that already.
Forgive me for my corny humor."

But I removed the site promotion, because that duplicated with his other post.

Avoid 1and1 at all costs

by anstrum - 7/6/09 6:44 PM In reply to: Do Not Use 1and1 .com by badboyclub1

Like others on the threads that complain about 1and1 I was also sent to collections (without my knowledge) for a pre-paid account that I was rung through the ringer when trying to cancel. Instead of just closing my account when I canceled the account, they sent me to collections. I found out about the collection over a year later when I was trying to qualify for a mortgage. Needless to say this sunk my FICO and lenders now don't want to touch me because I have this $30 collection on my credit history. I've spent over two weeks on the phone and writing letters and emails with 1and1 and NCO (the credit agency) trying to resolve the issue with no luck. I'm now working with an attorney to try to get this resolved.

BE WARNED before doing business with 1and1. 1and1 makes it extremely difficult to close your accounts and when you do close your account, they refer you to collections. Please consider that by doing business with 1and1 your credit will be forever affected which makes it impossible for you to ever by a car, house, or get any type of a loan because of their extremely aggressive policies.

I've never had any trouble with them, and I have been doing business with 1&1 for almost four years now. Guess I just got lucky xD

1&1 is realy bad i think on many part of his services. The whorst is domain name that are not free to push. Im actualy using a local canadian web hosting company in my city http://3dd.ca i think is the better thing to do go with local hosting and if you have a trouble go directly to the office !
