There is nothing mean-spirited in her criticisms in way that so many of these tiresome "you're-just-an-unthinking-iSheep"/"you're-just-a-bitter-hater-who-can't-afford-one" flame wars go.
I love listening to Molly and Tom tease and poke at each other. And since Veronica left there is nobody to stop them which makes me cackle with laughter throughout the podcast. Its like two old friends who know exactly how to get at each other and it honestly sounds like they are having a great time.
I have an iPhone and while my experience has been closer to that of Tom's, I still appreciate Molly's criticisms.
Keep it coming T & M...
I believe Molly is being mean spirited at times or pretending to be. In Ep.522 she completely ignored the facts about the Duke Wifi story. She kept insisting that despite the univ. I.T. dept. saying it was a Cisco problem that the iPhone could not be ruled out as the culprit. Silly example I know but it fresh and blatant. Again I don't mind Apple criticism just make it legitimate. They are a big company there must be plenty of stuff to rage against.
Apple bashing does get kinda of old, there's always DRM and Vista.
You have to make up stuff as opposed to things that are actually justified on the Apple side, such as the 'fact' that Vista phones the DoD... but I suppose it keeps some people occupied.
there, now we are all a happy family again... ![]()
I think Apple are due some harshing. They're no better than Microsoft at releasing buggy early products and their stuff costs too much for what it is. Seems to me like the Apple fans can dish it out but they can't take it; many are happy to chuckle along at the Mac guy/PC guy ads but the crying that went on after the 'iPod amnesty bin' picture came out was just hilarious.
I never knew the podcast before Veronica, but I find now that I really miss her take on things and although she could never be considered a "fanboy" at least she seemed to offer a different point of view regarding Apple. I think I can honestly say I find Molly's bashing of Apple as tiresome as the iPhone hype before it's arrival. Where Molly lives there might be a Mac everywhere, the rest of the world is quite different.
Whereas some people might say that she comes from a place of knowing because she has used Apple products, I think at times she simply uses that as a cover to find something to despise about it. I have found myself doing the same when I do work on Microsoft installed boxes.
Still, I am of the opinion that it takes all kinds. In the end I think it's kind of like arguing the virtues of a certain type of food to someone that dislikes it, and vice versa.
A pox on fanboys of all types, technological, political, religious, etc. I'm for honest talk and uncensored opinions and I think that's what we are getting from Molly.
She bashes linux, Vista and Mac OS. At least she's even handed. ![]()
But, I wonder if she likes anything she's not familiar with.
Maybe she can't handle change. ![]()
The big shocker was last week when she made the comment that the worst thing about Mac OS was the iLife apps. Now granted they aren't for pros but the only thing every Reasonable person can agree on is that Apple really did the iLife suite right. She is obviously being disingenuous or she really never gave it a chance.
