Yes. my question is whether or not i can upgrade the ram in a toshiba u305-s5077.
it has
dual core processor 1.73g
hard drive 160gb
System Bus 533MHz
Cache Memory 1MB at die Level 2
System Memory (RAM) 1GB
System Memory (RAM) Expandable To 4GB
My operating system is Windows Vista Home Premimum 32 bit. Now if I purchase 4gb of ram, will all 4gb show on the screen. what should i do?
Can you?
You say you can: System Memory (RAM) Expandable To 4GB. I didn't check.
Should you?
That depends on what you use it for. Especially if you choose not to use Aero (because all that nice graphics lower your battery live) there might be no need to upgrade. So tell more on what you (want to do) with the machine.

I bought it from the best buy website. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8403596&type=product&productCategoryId=pcmcat103700050044&id=1180743545509
I also checked crucial and it says i have a max of 4gb
but kingston said it was 2gb.
I definitely have the money for 4gb.
I just would really like to maximize performance out of my laptop. I want this one to last for awhile.
to 4 gig of ram with Vista and that if you have Vista 64 bit. In fact with Vista 32 bit you will only be able to use like 2.3 gig. Upgrading you hard drive would be more beneficial.
Today with the OS Toshiba will supply you'll get the 32-bit version and it will be just fine at 2GB. You were right to ask if all 4GB would show since on the 32-bit supplied OS you get 3 to 3.5 GB reported by Vista.
My advice is to stop at 2GB and put the money elsewhere.
