I have 2 desktops, old 98SE and XP SP2, and I bought a MAC OS Notebook, on my HP desktop with - since harddiskcrash begin of this year - 2 harddisks, 250 and 160 GB I have UBUNTU on 2nd harddisk, which is very nice! although some problems with my HP Printer. Yet I already can say I prefer MAC and UBUNTU!
3 self-built full size desktops
1 self-built slim desktop as a media center pc
3 laptops (one compaq, two toshibas)
I've got two. The Mac G5 is a screaming machine - dual processor 2.0 ghz and with 2GB of RAM. I use it for video editing and all sorts of creative projects. I bought it in 2005 b/c I wanted to create some great videos and b/c I was tired of trying to do them on a PC.
The second machine is a trusty Dell with a 2.2 ghz processor and WinXP. This was a Dell Outlet machine purchased in 2002. I use it for email and for my music server. My wife uses it too. I've been pretty happy with it and it still keeps trucking along. You can't fault Dell - they do make good PC's and I've never had a problem with the Outlet purchases -as long as you buy the extra warranty.
it is an emachines media center entertanment w/ windows xp.
It is a home made computer made from several salvaged I'vehad ovr time. This one has a new motherboard and tower. but the rest is put together from Ebay parts as needed.
I have a PIII with 512MB memory running Ubuntu which is a lot of fun, and works like a charm.
A PII with 512 MB that has some old games on it and one of my sons is learning programming on.
A 3.06 Celeron with 1gig and 300gigs HD for general fooling around and as storage for video files which I edit using-
An AMD 64 3200+ (soon to be upgraded to x2 when I can afford it) with 1.5gigs memory.
And a Turion 64 laptop with 1 gig memory.
All units except laptop I built, using high-quality hardware. Not necessarily cutting edge, but good stuff none-the-less.
All units except Ubuntu machine running XP Pro or XP Home.
Dell 5400, Dell 4100, and Compaq Armada 7700 Laptop
I have HP Pavillion PC - just the one.
I have a HP dv2020ca laptop, Sony RB30 desktop, and a Compaq SR1234NX desktop.
5 macintosh computers and one windows machine, oops we actually have two windows machines, one is a older tower that someone at his work gave to my husband, and the other is an older think pad we picked up used, but is very slow. We have one G3 mini tower that is about 11 years old and still running, but I hardly use it. I have three notebooks, an aluminum 15 "g4 and a new 17" macbook pro (when I thought my notebook couldn't be reasonable fixed, but then I found some one to fixed it. and a 15" whilte ibook which is also new. My husband is getting another computer from work an IBM of sorts that recently came out. Don't know what we are going to do with all thee computers. I lOVE Apples the best.
I have 8 at home! hahaha, i personally have 1 desktop and 1 Gateway Tablet. We have 4 other desktops (bros, sis, and cuzs) and 2 HP notebooks (mom and bro). i know its a lot but all of our desktops are generic (made them myself) and 2 of them are like Pentium 3 hahaha... personally, i think 8 is too much, bandwidth is killing us since we usually use at the same time. it's a good thing i moved out last year and got a faster 1.5mbps connection...
I've got the following:
Me:
New Macbook
G4 PowerMac
AMD Clone
AMD Clone Freenas
AMD Clone Running Linux
My wife:
Toshiba Laptop
My kids:
AMD Clone
AMD Clone
Three printers, two scanners, two Tivo's, modded xbox for music and video, xbox360, and boxes of computer components.
Just kept the stuff over the years when I upgraded. My wife is getting a little worried about me.
We have 2 adults and 5 kids in our family, each of us has their own desktop. My wife and I also have laptops. We have a file server, a webserver, a firewall/proxy server, 2 linux test boxes, and then each TV has a media server.
1- barebones Compaq desktop built in 1998. Great and reliable for word processing tasks.
1- Dell desktop Dimension 4400
1- Compaq laptop built in 1999. Use as back-up.
1- Toshiba Satellite laptop. Paid $800. It's a work horse. I do all my video editing on it and tak it on the road with confidence.
(I have another laptop. An HP. But it spends more time on a tech's bench than on my desk that I no longer count it as a reliable machine. It's a HP dv1000. Had paid $1,500 for it. Big mistake.)
I have the Dell Inspiron 1705 and love it! Bought it in 12/06 and got it in 1/07. At the same time I ordered a new desktop after it became apparent my 6 year old Dell could just not keep up with me anymore
My desktop is an E520 with a 19 inch monitor, great for watching movies!!
I use my laptop for college, just finished my Bachelors degree, and am planning to take my laptop to school again this fall when I pursue a Masters.
I am happy with both computers!
