We never throw things out: 2 of the desktops and 1 notebook are HP This computer I'm typing from is a HP Pavillion a220n, AMD Athlon 512 memory, 120 GB Hard Drive, and the smaller HP is a Pavilion with a 99 GB Hard Drive and Intel Pentium. The HP notebook is a Compaq Presario 1500 (kinda old but it took Explorer 7 easily enough). The other Desktops are a Gateway and an E Machine (still functional good for the kids) and the other notebook is the new Fujitsu with Windows Vista (our only Vista so far). All of the rest run on Windows XP. We did have a Sony notebook (still works) but we gave it to my 21 year old son when his Avertec notebook had a power problem (he's still looking into salvaging it).

I have four, all self built, all AMD processors of various flavors. The oldest being a K6-400Mhz; the newest being a Sempron 3000. All run various flavors of Windows. All are networked. I am researching parts for another unit, which will run Ubuntu Linux.
Working:
Gateway PC - barely runs - WinME (can any computer really run WinME?)
Compaq PC - barely runs - WinXP/Knoppix LiveCD
HP Laptop - decent - WinXP
Fujitsu Laptop - subpar - WinXP
Not Working:
Compaq PC - won't boot - WinXP
Custom PC - won't boot - WinXP
I have a Sony VAIO desktop, a Toshiba Qosmio laptop and my 2 children both have a Toshiba laptops...do they make any other laptop than a Toshiba, ha.
I have one, a Micron and it is still churning away. The only problem I have had with it is two of my drives are out(6.5 and DVD)and it makes life a little difficult.
so i have one...![]()
That is funny but I can relate
Just got a new (ok, refurb but new to the house) HP A1610n desktop. Bought it specifically because it has XP Media Center for the OS instead of Vista, due to all the horror stories I've heard and read about that.
I have 2 Dells, a Dimension 1800 about 3 years old which I have upgraded several times and a brand new XPS 710 (a gamester) which is about 2 weeks old. Boy do I love my new computer it plays all my games seamlessly. I do have a 24" high def montor to go with it...wow..it is great...I will be hooking up my old computer to my 50" plasma just to serf the web from my easy chair...
the gateway desktop came first in 1997, and still runs great, but it's windows 95 and hasn't been turned on in almost a year. it's a mamoth. it's so huge.
the dell came second, a deal on QVC right after windows xp came out. it constantly had problems, and bit the dust last year. it was shut off in january of 06, and i am afraid to turn it back on. i think the hard drive died b/c it makes a really weird noise and runs really, really slowly.
my sister and i both have dell desktops (one from '04 and one from '05) for school, and the family has a dell ('06) desktop at home.
all 5 take up way too much space. i really want...need a laptop...
Fujitsu C-2210 Lifebook running XP Pro SP2 on wireless Private Home Network, Micro ATX Aria(Antec case) wired Desktop running Dedicated XP Pro SP2 and Micro ATX Antec NSK 2400 Desktop running Vista Business x 86. Currently, the Vista Desktop has a incompatible Intel D101GGC board w/ a Pentium R 3.20 Ghz. 1512 Mb. Ram to be soon replaced with a Intel DQ965GF board.
Lee, that's three(3) activated and genuine MS Software which are client PC's for the Windows Home Server RC1(Antec Aria case with Intel Desktop board D101GGC w/ Pentium D 2.66 Ghz. 512 Mb Ram).
Not violating my NDA, but this will be a great product for multiple PC homes.
