Two I put together myself; a Gateway notebook and an HP desktop....
Homebuilt, as recommended by professionals. Our primary unit is built on an Intel 865 mobo with P4 3Ghz cpu running 2 Gigs of DDR-3200 RAM into 2 SATA 80 G-byte hard drives. Room for expansion with a 550W power supply. Software is Windows XP-Pro, and Office 2003 Pro.
Unit #2 is an ASUS Slot 1 mobo with a Power-Leap P3 1.3 Ghz cpu and 1 G-byte of PC-133 RAM into a 40 G-byte HD. Windows XP pro and Works Suite. Simplicity is the key.
NO shovelware on these!!
This one is a 1999 home built Intel Mb with a slot one 500 mhz Intel cpu. It has a Voodoo 3000 video Card. works great .
I also have a home built MSI 875P Neo FISR , Pent. 4 3.0 Built in 2003. It quit on me last week with a loud pop when I pushed the Start button. Notice Pc power & cooling PSU had something ozing out of a Cap.. Well I installed a new psu. Nothing happened . no beeps no nothing I reset the cmos with every thing on my desk top using only graphics card and Memory. nothing is smoked on the board or other parts. paid nine times as much for this computer and it quit in half the time. so money don't buy happiness.. Intel 99 paid $250. 03 Msi paid $2600.
I generally build my own computers as I have control over it. I know what hardware to install and never had a problem with it. The other computer is a used Micron which works pretty well and game to my wife.
My puter is a Gateway and I think it is the cadillac of all puters
Acer, who I'd thought was an OEM, looks to purchase gateway and eMachines.
I am not sure I'd be comfortable using one of their boxes.
No one has ever turned down a deal if the price is right. Pannew
2 - One Toshiba laptop and one self-built desktop.
I have 2 One is a Hp and the other is an E-machine
A Gateway 700X and a Toshiba Laptop. The third computer is a custom built Gateway. One that I tore the guts out of keeping just the motherboard and RAM. I replaced everything else to suit me and it is still my main computer that I use for everything.
I have a HP desktop, which has been working well for 4 yrs. And a Alienware laptop I have had for 2yrs now. Both are doing mmmkay!
