I'm just got a second monitor and decided to go into the multiscreen system world. The two monitors work and display the info no problem and I can move my mouse from screen to screen, but I find little details impossible to change. The system runs on a RADEON 9250. It has 3 plugs on the back, one VGA, one Digital and one for an S-Cable, now I'm using one monitor for the digital and one for the VGA.
1. Can the task bar be expanded so it will show in both monitors.?
2. Can the wallpaper be change individualy for each monitor or if I apply a panoramic picture it will cross from one to the other?
Thanks.
Sorry.
On your setup the two monitors are using the same Desktop image. You can't select different Desktops for each monitor. However you can drag applications and other windows across, or "re-size" them to span the two monitors.
Also, you can only have the one Taskbar on one monitor. You can move it from monitor to monitor but not stretch it across. However there is a utility you can use to help configure the two monitors, by for example, adding a Taskbar to the second monitor and adding buttons to applications so they open either in one or the other monitor, etc. It's called Ultramon.
I've not tried it myself, but there are more details here;

Its not free, but there is a trial version.
I hope that helps.

http://www.mediachance.com/free/multimon.htm has a toolbar tool you may want to look at and the new min/max/close buttons get a new switch monitor button.
Very cool. And free.

Excellent Bob.
Thanks for that, I now have two different desktop images. ![]()

I love my dual display setups. Over the years I've learned the right words to find solutions about them.

I fell into the trap. I had read, (imagined?), somewhere that you couldn't customize dual screens like that, so I failed to check properly.
The two Desktops answer is great. The only problem I have with it is that I have my Primary monitor Desktop icons with a transparent background, but setting the web page onto the Desktop cancels that out. However I can get round that with careful manipulation of the web image.
Cheers.

Well, thank you all for the help. I'm good to go with my two taskbar using MultiMon and the wall paper I tried the web page look, but it seems to slow down my compu so I just left the desktop with a nice soft background color.
Glad we could find something useful.

You could also try the Multi-Screen Manager software by 9x Media:
http://www.9xmedia.com/Pages-software/Multi-screen-Manager.html
It has a free download and 30-day trial.
The 9X Media Multi-Screen Manager wallpaper manager adds the ability to use a different picture on each monitor, or stretch a single picture across the desktop.
They also offer free downloads of high resolution wallpapers and backgrounds:

I have their triple screen setup:

Totally Xtreme!
Yeah, I guess some cheap and ugly wallpapers more than justify the exorbidant 9X rip off...I guess 9X means 9 times the fair price of what that stuff should cost. Anyone want a huge Gorbachev-style red 9X badge ablaze on their setup for a couple hundred dollars over market value lcds?
Sounds like "xtreme9x" is xtremely xcited about xposing cnet readers to the xtortion sxemes...thanx 9x (for the spam?) i wish you much succex.
Totally Xtreme!
