Nokia 6126 or Samsung Sync?

by Arramol - 6/25/07 3:06 PM

I've been comparing the two and they seem to have pretty similar features. I can get the Nokia for free or the Sync for $25 after $50 mail-in rebate (ugh). I'm mostly only interested in regular voice calls and media player functionality. It looks like the Samsung has video features that the Nokia doesn't, although it made it sound like the Sync can only receive streaming video rather than playing it off of the MicroSD card. Not sure on that. Can anybody tell me how the features differ and if the Sync is enough better to justify the cost and the hassle of the rebate? I'd also like to know if I can use standard headphones with either of them or if I'll have to shell out for something with a proprietary input. Thanks!

To consider...

I have a Nokia 6126. It's a pretty good phone. I like the fact that you can get it for free with a contract and use a 2GB MicroSD Card for audio, video and images. The setbacks are:

1) BATTERY LIFE: Using the media player eats up the battery like crazy. You have to constantly charge your phone. Standy time is more like 3 days not 10 days (as Nokia claims) even if you do not use the media player and its other features. I often carry my charger with me.

2) IT'S NOT A '3G' PHONE: Therefore, it does not support AT&T/Cingular video downloads like the Samsung SYNC.

3) SIZE: The Samsung SYNC is slightly bigger than the Nokia 6126 even with the built-in antennae.
