Try REX,Best Buy, and one other good source, Sears. Glad to see someone else likes JVC. You have good taste!
Why?? Just look at the picture.
I use to prefer Sony for just about everything consumer related till they invaded everyone's PC with their spyware. They are off my radar now and I'm finding other brands are just as high quality and reliable and don't force locking technologies on the user. So while the separation from Sony was a matter of principal, it worked out just fine in the long run.
Im not kiddin' Samsung is gud. Im not advertising for tem. But i have so many samsung products in my house n they still work fine. I have this TV for 10yrs still work fine. I bought a samsung hdtv last month and is Perfect. Try it.. i mean it
No Sony, Yes Sony, only Toshiba or JVC... Tell ya what, it's kinda like picking an apple out of a basket...if it tastes good to you, ya done good.
I decided it was time for HD and BIG...so I went shopping. First thing I saw was a Sharp Aquos...42" I think, looked nice...price was right, but I decided to walk around a bit, remembering a Sony Bravia I'd seen months earlier that had a Mediterranean tourist demo...Gosh that was impressive.... So I looked around the shop and just over there was a Sony display...they had Spiderman 3 as part of their demo. WHOA! I thought the webslinger was gonna grab me! But many bucks more than the Aquos.
OK, "please, please," I begged can I see this demo on the Sharp? They set it up. Well, so so, but maybe I was getting more critical as time to pay approached? So, "please, please" again to get the sets side by side with the same demo in the same light, blah blah. Again, I guess I must have had my mojo working or something, they picked up the Sony, moved it next to the Aquos, loaded up BOTH demos and away we went. SONY, dudes, no mistakes, no confusion over black or edges or whatever. It just sucks you in and blows you away. I've done the same exercise with other brands including a very pricey Pioneer.... Same result...cabinetry or inputs or whatever may be more appealing, but down where it gets done, the image, it's Sony for my eyebones. People have wailed on me about them using Samsung or whatever parts (LCD screen was it?) but again, where the image meets my eye it got me. I've had Panasonic...nice, lasted a LOOOOOOng time, in fact a friend is still using it...and an older SONY flat screen DR model...closest I've ever seen to HD without being one. Now to find an HD satellite receiver here in China!
I have two Samsung PC Monitors, a 19" and 24" wide screen, and my TV is 71 Samsung DLP, and my cell telephone is also a Samsung. They seen to be very reliable, and I have a lot of faith in their quality.
My husband prefers Sony; when he purchased his Plasma flat screen, he purchased Sony. However, the reason that I am saying Mitsubishi is because we still have two from 1989 (I think 27" or 29") that are still working and do the job very well.
However, I have usually purchased Sharp for cheaper smaller tv's for my children as they progressed from Jr. High to College.
We own a VAIO notebook, SONY cam/corder, SONY DVDR............BUT, the SAMSUNG television we bought many years ago with only the RCA pluggs has been a Great TV. I would like to use S-Video but, this unit was the last of Ther Mohecians before S-Video came out. However, DIRECT TV broadcasts local channels in HD + alot of the DIRECT channels too, and I do beleive this TV has some of the capibility of displaying some of the HD signal. We can tell while surfing the channels.
Iam not one to keep up with drastic changes just simply because its available...i.e....S-Video 'IN' and OR ,HDTV.
So, we'll be watchin CSPAN 1&2 on it for some time to come. In the mean time,
Iam holding for Holographics and Interacive TV to come out before I upgrade.
Until now I have preferred and purchased all Sony TVs.
I have had great success with all of the Sony (CRT based)TVs my wife and I have purchased for ourselves as well as the one we bought for my mother-in-law. We even own two of the small personal Sony DVD-FX810 Player. I buy them because they just work with no problems.
All of that may change. We are now in the market for flat screen HD TVs. Right now it looks like Pioneer, Panasonic, LG, and the Sharp Aquos are highest on our list with the 60 inch Pioneer leading by a smidge. Heck even the Vizio TVs are looking pretty good. We are just doing a bit more comparision Plasma vs LCD.
I've tried several brands and have had great luck with Panasonic.
I like Sony, for TV's and video cams. I will also buy thier DVD players and also have a lot of faith in Panasonic and like their products also. They are my favs and I have owned many and never a problem. I have had 5 or 6 Sony video cams, and currently own a Sony HC7 HD cam, a Panny DVD recorrder with over 2000 hours ( 4 years old) of use on it and it is still going strong and currently own a Sony 5 disc DVD changer that upconverts to HD and is unbelievable.
Sony - great technology; decent customer service
Samsung - great products that make it difficult to decide what to get
Panasonic - was my first HDTV and I've had no issues with it.
I've had other brands but JVC has always been the best "bang for the buck". My current TV i bought in 1998 and still works just as good as when i've bought it. Not that other brands dont offer equipment just as good but they do charge alot more for it. If this one ever dies i'll be in the market for another JVC.
I like Samsung and Sony, Toshiba is decent and I'd put them in at third. Uncle has a 42" REGZA and it has great picture quality. They also co-produce their LCD panels. The picture quality is awesome. As far as Sony, their XBRs and SXRDs have great quality. I could hardly walk into the store I work at without staring at that 70" SXRD. They put a smaller Pioneer Elite Plasma in, and I hardly notice it. It even has the speaker ring around it, which is mounted on a stand (I'm not a salesman, I don't know model numbers, as far as those go).
Mitsubishi, sucks. Only seen a few of their rear proj units, one was on the floor and we had it sent to service at least 3 times in the past 8 months.
If you want a plasma, go Pioneer Elite, but I wouldn't put them at the top of my "Favorite TVs" list. But they have some great plasmas.
Couple of our Aquos floor models have a line running down the center of it, like a split in the screen. Don't know background on why that happens.
Panasonic is alright. No complaints. We don't sell LG. We have an HP, I believe. I don't know why, but we do.
My preference for Philips dates back to years ago, when I lived in Europe briefly. It was the only brand I recognized initially, and the one whose quality I felt safe with.
