Deciding Between Two HP Desktops

by everwanted2 - 7/11/07 5:06 PM

Hi,

I need help deciding between two desktops. I currently have:

HP M7767C
Core 2 Duo E6600
2GB Ram, 600GB Sata Harddrive
GeForce 7500LE Video Graphics
Windows Vista Ultimate
W/22' HP w22 monitor

I bought this bundle as an open box at Sam's Club for a total of $950 (tax included).

I am looking into returning the one I currently have for the HP Pavilion m8120n Minitower. Specs are:

Intel Viiv Technology, Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q6600, 2.4GHz, 3GB RAM, 2 X 320GB Hard Drives, 16X DVD+/-RW Drive, Windows Vista Home Premium, GEForce 7350LE Video Graphics

The m8120n is available for $1070 (tax included) but with no monitor. Basically, is the quad core system with the 3 gb ram but lower graphics card worth it for me to return my current system and buy the m8120n? Is there a huge difference between the Core 2 Duo E6600 and the Core 2 Quad E6600?

processor is most important. you can always upgrade your video card.

I'd say

stick with your curent system. Yes, the quad core does provide more processing power, but its not likely to be noticed so I don't see it justifying the hastle of return and repurchase, in addition to having to buy a new monitor.

He's happy. "It won't slow down." was said the last time I saw him.

There will be naysayers but you usually find they haven't used such machines.
