I can't really go up anymore with price or size, so I felt like these are the 2 best 32" lcds I could find in that price range. The samsung has a 720p resolution, 8000:1 contrast ratio, 8 ms response time, and more inputs than the Sharp. It also got a 7.9 rating here from cnet, which was the highest reviewed 32" tv I believe (the sharp wasn't reviewed yet, however). The Sharp has a 1080p resolution, 10,000:1 contrast ratio, 6ms response time, and still enough inputs for my needs at the moment. The Samsung is about $1100 in most retailers, while the Sharp is about $1300, so at that point, price isn't the biggest concern.
I'll be using my tv for gaming primarily, with tv and dvds coming secondary. On paper, it seems like the Sharp is a better choice, but Samsungs have a great reputation and the tv looked absolutely stunning in person. The Sharp looked great as well, but I also feel like it wasn't outputting 1080p from the display tv, so it's tough to notice the difference in picture between the two. I really need some info about both tvs! Thanks in advance.
Hi Mike5012,
I can't comment on the Samsung LN-T3253H, other than that it seemed nice from what I've seen at the store. But, however, I do own the Sharp LC-32D62U and it is also very nice. The Samsung has more imputs as you stated, but a slower response time and lower resolution. The resolution difference probably isn't a huge factor at this smaller size, but when you sit close enough to game it is more profound. Normal tv watching it isn't. Xbox 360 games look great in 1080p over component cables. This set accepts 1080p over component, which is an important feature for Xbox 360(non elite)owners. Also, the 6ms response time is a huge plus for gaming. All non-Sharp LCDs are 8ms. I notice no lag on-screen with my Sharp, but it was able to be noticed on my 19in Samsung with a 8ms response, which I used to play. Not bad, however.
So I wouldn't say the Samsung is a bad choice for gaming, especialy if you need all the inputs. But I would suggest the Sharp if not, because of the resolution advantage(think sitting close to an ultra high-res computer moniter) and faster response time. If your mind is set on the Samsung, though you couldn't really go wrong with it either...coming from an owner of both brands so no bias in my opinions!!!
