I went ahead and bought the SD750 for the larger size overall, and better looks. I'm trusting CNET to say that image quality is the same/slightly better on the 750 compared to the sd1000. If I'm that unhappy, Ill return it and return to square 1.

LT3: which Canon digital has the best quality.

Not only does the 8 MP A630 have the best picture quality per CNET tests, it's also the most inexpensive. Can be purchased, per CNET vendors, at well under $200. Has good sized and swiveling LCD finder plus the optical finder for those unpleasant moments when the light's too bright to use the LCD finder. Is not too small too handle and not too large to stuff in a shirt pocket. The best of the better Canon A series 'tho without the IS which is really not worth the xtra cost. Also has full manual controls should that interest you. A slam-dunk!!

Forget Canon

If image quality is the main concern then buy the fuji F31fd. Canon doesn't make any compacts that can compete with the low noise and image quality of this camera.
