HTC is one of the few phone manufactures that do have decent buttons! I legally blind and I cannot feel those crazy flat panel buttons. (RAZ..)

Loss of signal

by theunbubba - 7/4/07 4:09 PM In reply to: Poll: What cell phone manufacturer are you loyal to and why? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

Is the ONLY measure of performance I care about.
My nokia has always been able to recieve and send in places that all others fail! We have a cabin up on the Little Tennessee river near Townsend. I am routinely the only person that gets signal at all. NUF SAID!

Virgin Mobile's Audiovox - Only $5.00 per month for 3 Yrs

by High Desert Charlie - 7/4/07 4:55 PM In reply to: Poll: What cell phone manufacturer are you loyal to and why? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

Why in heavens name would you need to spend $700 for a cell phone??? First of all, few of us have an urgent need for cell phones, but they are a nice convenience and nothing more. When I'm home, I use my home phone. When I'm at work, I'm supposed to be working, but if I need to, I use my work phone. You shouldn't be talking on the phone when you're driving. So here's the deal that works for me.

I have a cute little Audiovox cell phone that I bought through Virgin Mobile three years ago. The phone cost was about $30.00. Every three months they charge my debit account $15.00. I pay for minutes as I use them @ around $0.15 per minute for 10 minutes and then $0.10 per minute after the first 10 minutes each day. My current balance is $55.00 and that will go up to $70.00 on the 19th of July. I guess that means that I could talk for about 11 hours if I need to. I don't.

My phone works when I need it and stays off when I don't. People call me at home and if I'm not there they leave a message. Simple. Cheap. And a lot easier to manage than $700 for a phone/mp3/pda/camera /internet/lmnop all in one media center. That's what I have a laptop for. Not to mention the added expense for the monthly cell phone bill.

I realize some people are a lot more mobile than I, and spend a lot less time at home. But even then, the astronomical expense of cell phones must be quite a burden.

Another of the Samsung minority weighs in

by zoemom - 7/4/07 7:54 PM In reply to: Poll: What cell phone manufacturer are you loyal to and why? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

I've had both Nokia and Samsung. I'm now on my second Samsung (just purchased a new one, since I left my other one on the beach while on vacation). Like the ease of use of my Samsung, the new one has bluetooth functions, I can take pictures if I want - yet the interface and learning curve for me to be comfortable with the new Samsung was very short, as it was very similar to my '05 model. Also has LARGE numbers, which makes it nice for us, who wish not to pull out their reading glasses everytime they're placing a call or reading an e-mail.
Also as another person mentioned, they still make the flip phones, which I prefer - mine is also bright red, which makes it easy to find in my purse or if it's sitting on my cluttered desk. Phone is slim vs. my spouse's Motorola (don't like, clunky and hard to understand easily - IMO). Both Samsungs rarely ever drop a call, (unless I'm either in the mountains or overseas).... my local provider is our phone company - service is great, just hate to go into the physical store, as it seems there are always too many customers with complex problems and never enough staff to handle them.

Love Sony Cell Phones

by argandny - 7/4/07 8:04 PM In reply to: Poll: What cell phone manufacturer are you loyal to and why? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

I have a strong dislike for most sony products. Why? Because they tend to always choose accessories that no other company use(i.e. memory stick, blu-ray, etc...), However, I must say I am a pretty loyal sony cell phone customer. I've had a few and the one i currently use is the W800i and have loved it. My buddies last summer would call it the Macguyver phone due to the many functions the phone had. In the summer we would go to the beach and just play the phones radio or mp3 function for hours. The battery life was absolutely amazing. I've still never seen a phone battery life last soo long. This walkman phone was out 2-3 years ago (before the iPhone). In addition, the quality of the 2 mp camera is very good and the flashlight on the phone has been very handy. I bought a 4 gb memory stick and pretty much turned it into a nano. Love the new phones coming out by sony (check their website). One new function on the new phones coming is if you shake the phone it changes the song. When i buy a new phone in the winter, it will be a tough decision between iphone and sony....

LG. LIFE IS GOOD , !

by jopow1956 - 7/4/07 9:37 PM In reply to: Poll: What cell phone manufacturer are you loyal to and why? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

I find LG phones to be durable, packed with sensible features and high tech features and cheap! My husband owns a VX8300, he likes the loud speaker phone. Right now I own the LG EnV. I love the keyboard easy for texting, the camera is very good,(2.0 mepix) and the call-sound quality good !

Which cell phone?

by ladydi25348 - 7/4/07 10:12 PM In reply to: Poll: What cell phone manufacturer are you loyal to and why? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

My fav is and will continue to be the LG - it is so user friendly you would think you had someone looking over your sholder, haven't had to use the book except once on one of my other LG's. The battery life leaves something to be desired on some models but for use, ease of use and quality - let me have an LG.

I have one complaint about all manufacturers

by back_water_tech - 7/4/07 11:16 PM In reply to: Poll: What cell phone manufacturer are you loyal to and why? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

Ok, here I am, again ;)

I have used Nokia, LG, and Motorola phones. the models I've used all seem to have been similer in design and usablilty.

I used a Motorola startac 650e (now this kinda dates me, now don't it :D ) I also used several Nokia's and now my newest phone is a LG.

All the phones I have had from Alltel have been CDMA phones and those seem to work the best here (and the only cell technology that Alltel uses if my information is correct)

Here is my complaint:

Why does every cell phone manufacturer feel it necessary to make thier phones light every light on the phone and beep when the battery is almost dead?

My LG does this several times before shutting down. Every Nokia i've had back to the old trusty 252c I had back in 99 did this as well. Even the old Motorola Startac did this.

This makes no real sense to me, kinda like hot rodding your car to get to a gas station when you are running on fumes. LOL ;)

This is a question I would like answered. . .
peace audios and stuff

Cell Phone Preference

by bleone9 - 7/5/07 5:28 AM In reply to: Poll: What cell phone manufacturer are you loyal to and why? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

More Power to Everyone who has a say in their Preference. That's what keeps the Competetive edge and Carriers fighting for better Handsets ! Right / Wrong / or Indifference; Mine has always been LG. Not saying it's better then the rest, just Most User Friendly for me and Reliable. .....better then a Radio Shack Walkie Talkie !

Another LG fan

by jensays - 7/5/07 7:46 AM In reply to: Cell Phone Preference by bleone9

I'm on my second LG now, and although my kids think it looks "nerdy", for me it fulfills just about all my needs. Battery life is very good, keypad is comfortable for text and dialing. Sure, the IPhone is adorable, but for those of us on a budget, I'd highly recommend LG's line for reliability.

None

by ratmouth - 7/5/07 6:22 AM In reply to: Poll: What cell phone manufacturer are you loyal to and why? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

I absolutely detest cell phones. In the past I have subscribed to Verizon, Cingular, T-Mobile, etc. They all stink and their service is abominable. Now I bought a phone without a plan so I wouldn't be tied down to any company, but the minutes I purchased expired before I was able to use them. I used the phone only 3 times and I don't think I will purchase any more minutes.

I don't know what the matter is with people. Everywhere they go they seem to need to be on the phone. They hop in their car to go someplace and right away start using the phone while driving. They should be arrested.

Arrest them all ?

by bleone9 - 7/5/07 7:16 AM In reply to: None by ratmouth

I agree with you to a Certain ( Most ) degree. Everywere you go, allot of people are; atleast pretending to be, talking on their phones, extra lowd, looking around to see if people are "Uooing and Awwwing" at them, when their really making fools of themselves. BUT, their ARE People who are honestly useing them for Buisness, etc. My self, do enjoy my LG, but would just as soon use our Radios at Work.
And yes, As far as being Arrested, well it's not to that point, yet, But if / when I see someone Driving and Useing their phone, Puting inocent peoples live in Potential Danger, Yes, They'll Atleast get a Ticket From Me....
