Very Well put Nate

by ehallspqr - 7/5/07 4:18 PM In reply to: It's all semantics, people by natejohnstone

Each to his own. My main thing is people are bashing something they don't even an inkling of knowledge about. They are totally clueless and they are arguing with someone that has been using the device for the last 24 hours straight and has the dam thing in their hand. Their reaction is based on some sick, primitive, jealous knee-jerk reaction I guess. I would not even begin to comment on your Sony cell phone. I know zero about them except Sony generally makes pretty good products.

Sony Ericsson all the way

by dgilmartin - 7/4/07 2:12 AM In reply to: Poll: What cell phone manufacturer are you loyal to and why? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

I see that most people use Nokia, no real surprise, after the 5110/3210/3310 models came out in the late 90s they propelled them to the top of the market. Nokia's are very easy to use, but that's about it..
Sony Ericsson are pioneers, e.g. bringing out the 2MP K750i a few years back, it had an MP3 Player, "Proper" Digital Cam, Radio, Bluetooth Exchange Device, 65K Screen, memory support upto 2GB although it could probably accept a larger card. The USB connector cable for transferring files and for Downloading Firmware updates yourself instead of having to send the phone away to the manufacturer for two weeks was a necessity.. It was small too(at the time)
Now they a massive range of phones from the basic W200i Walkman phone to the new 5MP Cybershot K850i and soon to be a arriving the Class leading P1i Symbian Smartphone with a 3.2MP Cam, WLAN, Music recognition, Business card scanner, Handwriting Recognition and much more..

So get rid of your Moto which crashes twice a day, Dump your basic Nokia(well maybe not your N95!!) and Buy a Sony..

SonyEricsson is the best for:

by 7aji88 - 7/4/07 4:03 AM In reply to: Sony Ericsson all the way by dgilmartin

I agree that SE is the best maybe not in the high end cell phones, but for the small cell phones they are the best. I got my W810i 3 months ago and I LOVE IT!!! The software is very responsive and you can play solitaire while listening to music-I do this on my desktop- Also the 2mb camera takes a great pictures like a real 2 or at least like a real 1.3 mb digital camera, so no more bad cell phone's photos. The screen is awesome Sony knows how make screens, and in the box there is a cable, 256mb memory card, and a good quality headphones. The best part was that I got it with 2yr discount for 30$, so I used to love nokia but for the mid range cell phones SE got it better!!

Been using SE for years

by gfine - 7/4/07 8:10 AM In reply to: SonyEricsson is the best for: by 7aji88

Say what you will about other makes. The SEs we have had have been reiable, and it seems that they do not drop calls as readily as other brands. We have had Nokia, Moto, Samsung, and LGs and each had one quirk or another.

Currently I have a w300i, the wife is using my older T237, and my daughter a 520a. My son is the only one who uses another brand, an LG CU500, and he has problems with it the rest of us do not have.

This survey is skewed because of the release of the iPhone, and is not scientific. From what I read the iPhone has some real neat features but at the loss of other features. As with anything new the bluster will wear off with time. I expect if you ask the same question in six weeks the survey wil be way different.

"Sony Ericsson, thank you......"

by jerryofthe5ws - 7/4/07 9:00 AM In reply to: Been using SE for years by gfine

Oy! I would have to agree that the mid-range of Sony Ericsson's phone choices are just about unbeatable in terms of design, feature set, and the fact that most everything you'd have to buy as an accessory with other brands generally comes in a Sony box at time of purchase. I've had 2 Nokias (loved their sound, hated their look), 2 Samsungs (so-so), 2 Motorolas (abysmal experience), 1 very good Sanyo (still the best speakerphone function I've ever heard), but the best has been my W810i (bluetooth replaced speakerphone for me). I'd put the Walkman feature up against any MP3 player out there. I love the Sony line and would never leave for anybody else.

What up With the Polling?

by Beaters - 7/4/07 4:47 PM In reply to: Been using SE for years by gfine

Agreed to all you wrote.

Question: how can 40% of respondents be loyal to a phone (Apple)that's only been out a couple of days? They haven't even had time to recharge the battery once! I think something is rottten in Denmark.

Sony Ericsson for me

by birdmantd - 7/4/07 8:14 PM In reply to: Been using SE for years by gfine

My SE P910a has the best reception/features of any cell phone I have ever owned. This is the 3rd Sony Ericsson model I have owned and will certainly not be the last. Good, solid, reliable product that has yet to let me down. I think that SE has long been an innovator and will continue to do so for a long time to come.

APPLE

by extreme343gs - 7/4/07 2:42 AM In reply to: Poll: What cell phone manufacturer are you loyal to and why? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

one thing i hate is FLIMSY software. motorola & nokia's software; these ever top the list.
k they got a sweet price tag but then it become a pain in the ass long term. i can't connect to the internet, change a few setting, send e-mail without having PH.D in electronics/software.
just like microsoft "error 2342: cannot submit XYZ".
k fine its an error. now where the hell to i find out what this "2342"/"XYZ" is? no support, no website & of course the cherry at the top: horrible PC suits. if there is no help for Mac .
i mean what were they thinking. their mainstreams OS look like a beta a 10 yr of kid wrote.
i agree apple is locked with AT&T & 600$. but in the end of the day all i want to do is just get on with my life without a fuss. and thankfully i'm not in america. i hope they give an open one here.

Flimsy software???

by dre.caruana - 7/4/07 5:37 AM In reply to: APPLE by extreme343gs

Clearly, you have never owned a nokia phone! Remember though that Apple have only released their first phone, and not much time has passed since, so noone knows what will happen in time - if the iPhone will remain fast as it is advertised, if the software is reliable, etc. You might argument that they have built computer OSs, but that has nothing to do with this. If there is a manufacturer that has good software, which is 'anti-flimsy', it is nokia. I'd much rather trust Nokia, a company which has been creating phones for many many years, than Apple, which is existent because of funds by Microsoft in the past.

nokia kicks ass

by Jam256 - 7/4/07 7:42 AM In reply to: Flimsy software??? by dre.caruana

nokia's and moto's

by networkmoms - 7/4/07 9:00 AM In reply to: nokia kicks ass by Jam256

love them both:

i use to slam my nextel i1000 down on the ground and win money in bets for durability: no one would do what i did: just slam it on the ground!
let it slide across a road on a construction site!

great way to sell a phone:

nokia was a favorite as well and i'm glad to see they are still around: i use to sell their bag phone for 99.00! but what happened to nec: they made a p201 than was a 1st g candybar: i know that one i used 1200 a min plus and just wonder why i now i have tinitus?

NOKIA good software

by extreme343gs - 7/4/07 11:48 AM In reply to: nokia's and moto's by networkmoms

well i tell:3250,7710,6600,9500/i,9300,

these are the once in which i had 1 week hands down experience. i hate them all. i mean for eg.

3250 twist it to music player & have auto lock. see what happens ; there is no way to type a password.

6600 has this special thing in it. if you try chatting using any standard jabber & all it does is it crashes.

as for one more or most models:has a wallpapers in which you can't see the word or typed letter because it has white over white. there is no software updates. even if there is i tried it 20 times & non of them work.

APPLE iPHONE WOULD MAKE EVE EAT TWO APPLES

by not2worry - 7/4/07 8:09 AM In reply to: APPLE by extreme343gs

I've always been a Cingular/AT&T client and loved their mobile programs. I've traveled a lot in the USA and overseas and could always count on coverage. I admit in the US I've had some problems in remote areas, but what carrier hasn't.

I've had Sony Erikson, Motorola and Nokia BUT the iPhone is absolutely AWESOME. There have been complaints broadcast on MSM about the reception on the phone, but it is the BEST CELL PHONE RECEPTION I have ever had!

The only complaint I have is the on-going battled between Apple and Microsoft. I tried for days to get my msn.com account accepted by iPhone, but IMHO MSN is being an ass about not reconfiguring their POP to allow for easy email access. I fixed that by getting an AOL email Account and within minutes I was up and running - getting emails on my iPhone from AOL.

I absolutely LOVE my iPhone!!!!!

My petty sidekick loyalty

by tightlines - 7/4/07 8:28 AM In reply to: APPLE iPHONE WOULD MAKE EVE EAT TWO APPLES by not2worry

Well..I wouldnt say Im LOYAL to my sidekick, because I have been shopping around for something better, but so far I havent found anything that satisfies me. Some may call me petty for the things that turn me off to other phones, but I know what I like and I know what Im used to.

When the Helio Ocean came out, i was sooo ready to jump on it until I read that all of the sound settings are linked together...which means, if you dont want your IM chimes to sound, you will also be muting your cell phone settings and text message settings. The Ocean also doesnt have COPY AND PASTE commands..which is somethng I find that I use often enough. Ive also heard that people have had issues setting up their pop mail.

Then theres the Tmobile WING. This phone is pretty cool, it does a lot of cool stuff....but the IMs snap down. Meaning, if your friend is typing a mile a minute to you, and you have to scroll up to read what they said. As soon as they enter a new message, the box snaps down to the new stuff they said and you have to keep scrolling back up to read the stuff you missed. Youll never get to read it if you dont tell your friend to shut up for 2 minutes while you catch up! The sidekick doesnt do that! You can scroll alll the way up and control the scrolling so you can read and catch up at your convenience. That is very important to me because IMs are the main feature that I use. You also cant customize your away message on the Wing.

and though these other phones do way more than the sidekick, those little petty things still keep me on the sidekick...is anyone else like that?
