Oh good lord....

by SorchaMac - 5/8/07 10:23 AM In reply to: Re: SorchaMac - no other screen names needed... by David Nason

I don't care if you have or haven't created other screen names. I am not a man, I can go check again if you like...
But still, my original question has not been answered!!!! I'm getting angry and frustrated at the fact that I'm still having major problems after installing the Stop Sign.

At start up, now that I have run Spybot and it has quarantined eAccelerator, I get the message of "Some components are missing to run the Stop Sign program, do you wish to download them now?" I also get the message "You computer may be at risk!" stating my antivirus protection has been turned off. Which it hasn't! I have other antivirus protection running.
My system is slow. This is a brand new computer, MS Windows XP home edition 2002. It runs like ... well like crap. Before I installed Stop Sign I actually had a good running speed and didn't have problems with programs like I do now. It takes forever for things to boot up.
I've ran a search here on Cnet looking for answers that I understand and have yet to find any.
Can someone PLEASE just answer my question? I've run msconfig and found a couple of things to get out but eAcceleration is still on my computer and I cannot get it off no matter what I try and my knowledge is limited. I'm sure not stupid but I sure can't figure out this problem. So, Mr. Nason... offer a solution rather than continuing the problem and don't tell me to call your company because I am not going to pay for crap I don't want or need just to get rid of your program.

Cleanup

by David Nason - 5/8/07 10:43 AM In reply to: Oh good lord.... by SorchaMac

SorchaMac,

I did reply to your question:

"I'm sorry you did not have a good experience with StopSign. Call or chat into our customer support team to get an uninstaller that will remove all vestiges of StopSign from your computer. Or email me at the address below and I'll email it to you personally. "

There is no charge to you to ask for the uninstaller.
The phone number is 1-800-STOPSIGN (well, drop the final N)...
The chat link is on http://www.eacceleration.com/support.

Or just email me and tell me where I can email a zipped (and clean) program to clean it up. My email is davidnason@eacceleration.com

As I also said in my reply to your question: we know we have issues with SpyBot - it breaks StopSign by removing or quarantining components of it, but leaving other components running (badly!) One of the components it breaks is the standard Add/Remove applet, which meand there's little we can do about it other than to give you a program that will clean the remnants of our software off your computer. I offered you free support to fix it.

Don't waste anymore time on this gave an 1/2 reply

HOWE's site but ignored the rest. Used HOWE like he used others, for his own selfish means. On a footnote, there will no further communication AT ALL since he has avoided other salient points and gave a half answered reponse. send it to this email box Mr CTO, it will be deleted. Darrell

Old StopSign vs. New StopSign

by Ishtaka - 5/8/07 6:26 PM In reply to: Don't waste anymore time on this gave an 1/2 reply by darclew3

I have used StopSign pretty much from the day it came out and I have used just about every product besides the Firewall.
The old StopSign did have bugs and I had some trouble with it too but first of all that was years and years ago and second of all whenever I had a problem, I'd contact their support and it would be solved in a jiffy. They'd walk me through everything and keep going until it was solved.
For the last 1 1/2-2 years it has worked pretty flawlessly for me. It's my primary scanner and spyware/virus blocker though I do back it up with 4 other programs I run about once per month as I don't feel comfortable trusting my entire system to any one software program 100%.
While I haven't read the entire thread, I am boldly assuming that those who have complaints (and I don't mean complaints about how it was 3-6 years ago because that's just pointless) haven't taken the time and patience to call or use the support chat and followed through with what they were told to do. I just simply won't believe that anyone was left hanging if they called or used the chat because in over 5 years it has never happend to me even once.
Now I'm sure I will see some more posts (I did read the last 2 pages) saying how I'm Mr. Nason, and you are completely entitled to think that if you want, but the truth is that I actually joined the forum entirely because of this thread. I think it is so unfair for people to be trying to stop others from using this program because of problems that were years ago - or because they quite possibly work for a competitor and just want to slander StopSign.
I think there are some nice perks associated with the StopSign package. There's all the anti-virus stuff and also email and Dialup - and my favorite is the game that comes with it, The 4th Coming, which I have played on the eAcceleration servers before they even had StopSign. Check it out for yourself: www.t4c.eacceleration.com

How can STOPSIGN still be allowed to advertise?

by Egg-Win - 6/26/07 2:47 AM In reply to: stop sign free scan dangerous by sgrof

http://www.fbmsoftware.com/spyware-net/application/StopSign/

Had to reformat to get rid of all the adware attacks and embedded Trojans...see link above!

I consider myself fairly computer literate and still got JACKED!

It overrode most of my PC-cillin Internet Security settings, Disabled my Microsoft Security settings, Kept reinstalling over all SpyBot S&D repairs even with sys restore turned off and S&D run in SAFE Mode, slowed my system to a crawl, took over my IE-7 Settings, was time and labor prohibitive to remove all registry values, and left me wondering if I became infected with a ROOT program(s)[intended to record your keystrokes remotely]. See Trend Micro's Root Buster for a safe check.

This is truly a precarious program and the "FREE" intention should be a "RED FLAG".

Enough said!!!

StopSign

by David Nason - 6/29/07 5:31 AM In reply to: How can STOPSIGN still be allowed to advertise? by Egg-Win

Egg-Win,

StopSign did NOT give you trojans, spyware, viruses, or anything else.
It has been tested and reviewed by AV-Comparatives, SpywareWarrior, PestPatrol, and many others - it does NOT put anything bad on your computer!

StopSign will find any spyware or virus problems you do have.

But if you don't want it or don't want to pay for it, simply remove it:
Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs -> eAcceleration
or
Start -> Programs -> eAcceleration -> Add or Remove Products

If you are having any problems, just call Customer Support at 800-613-7226.

Help o_o

by rockstarxfishy - 6/28/07 9:52 PM In reply to: stop sign free scan dangerous by sgrof

Today, I downloaded Stop Sign "Antvirus" [screw them], && I didn't like it, since you had to pay to "cure" your "threats".. so I wanted to uninstall it.. I can't. o_o So, I began to get worried about that. Is it a virus, spyware program, etc.? If not, I still don't like it, how do you DELETE IT?? I've been on Google, looking threw some pages, people have said Stop Sign gives them spyware, viruses, etc... so, I really want to delete this off my poor comptuer, before I get fried. Never download Stop Sign if you haven't already.

Thanks David

by roddaut - 7/2/07 5:57 PM In reply to: Re: Help by David Nason

David,

I want to thank you for your honest answers on this forum. If it weren't for you taking time out of your busy schedule to explain things I would not have ordered your software and sped up my computer. It was slow for many months and I know I've lost losts of hours of productivity due to it's slow speed.

I thought I would just have to live with the slowness until my identity was stolen recently and I surmised that it was most likely due to a program on my computer that stole my information. Well your program found some kind of back door programs and trojans that I think allowed someone to steal my credit card number and my ebay password.

McAfee, Spyware Doctor, Ad-Aware and several other programs never found these things. Stop Sign removed them and not only do I feel my information is once again safe on my computer but my computer runs fast again.

I know that many people are paranoid about their computers and are jump to conclusions very quickly. The ONLY way to keep negative rumors from spreading is for you to keep correcting people and allowing us to access your wonderful staff.

StopSign

by bdomek - 1/1/08 1:40 PM In reply to: stop sign free scan dangerous by sgrof

I just checked out the stopsign website. I have McAfee SiteAdvisor which tells you if a sight is full of spyware & etc. The site is clean. Could you have possibly have clicked on a popup on your computer that could have lead you to a fraudulant stopsign website? My husband almost did that on our computer. Fortunately, he hollers to me when he's not sure of something and asks me what it is so I can let him know.
Also, you mentioned you have both AVG and Norton Antivirus on your computer. Did you know having more than one anti virus up and running will cause one to make the other one useless? You should never have more than one anti virus on any computer. Antispyware on the other hand is a different story. You can have between 3 & 5 of them and use them all, individually of course and keep your computer clean and protected. And also, please, only one Firewall. Two will have the same effects as more than one anti virus program. One will defeat the other.
Be sure to keep all of your security up to date, constantly. And, run at least one of your anti spyware programs at least once a day to keep your computer clean.
