My internet is so slow affecting both FireFox and IE, and I have no idea why. I have Windows XP, and my Dell computer, which is 3 yrs old is has about 52% disk space free. I have done the following things to solve the problem to no avail:
1) Signal is excellent; unplugged Netgear wireless adapter several times
2) Ran Norton antivirus - no problems
3) Ran Spyware Doctor - no problems
4) Cleaned cache file, cookies, temp internet files (but Firefox does that for you automatically)
5) Checked if firewall is on; it is, so no one is trying to use my signal.
6) Defragmented my computer; it's fine
7) I have 512 RAM, so it's not a memory issue
8) Overall, computer is fine, but internet connection is slow.
Any idea what the problem could be?
1. Enable SSID broadcast.
2. Use WPA-PSK.
3. All other features as factory settings (no mac filtering, etc.)

I'm no computer techie so I have no idea what that means. Can you elaborate or be more specific? Thank you for your help!
To elaborate I think you want me to tell you which page of the router manual to look at. To do that please give me a link to your router's manual. I see you didn't tell the make and model so that would be nice to know.
