ipod Voice?

by Matt C - 6/28/07 5:23 PM In reply to: Poll: Are you planning on buying an iPhone? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

It's a pretty slick idea and the demos look really cool but it isn't a need to have item for sure. Why pay that price for something that's not quite all there. I'd probably kill it in short order given its lack of robust construction. An indestructable case perhaps, but then I would have to take it out to use it. I'd rather have a couple hearty devices that work great as opposed to a single one who's days would be numbered.

Definately not with AT&T/Cingular, but maybe some other time

by The1Lion - 6/28/07 7:10 PM In reply to: Poll: Are you planning on buying an iPhone? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

I had AT&T before it became Cingular (and is now back to AT&T) but switched to T-Mobile about three years ago. cingular's customer support ticked me off so much that I have sworn never to have another plan with them. If I get an IPhone it will most likely be slightly used (for cheaper price) and unlocked so I can use it with another carrier besides AT&T. But after reading about Helio and what they offer, I may decide just to go with the Ocean and their service instead.

Never purchase an iPhone

by bigjim01 - 6/28/07 8:29 PM In reply to: Poll: Are you planning on buying an iPhone? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

Finally the Macintosh faithful get a Smartphoney that they will be able to utilize their chosen platform. However we have had Smartphones that have preformed quite well at not only playing music, but videos as well. Welcome Macintosh users to the modern era.

Superior phone

by westcat - 6/28/07 8:35 PM In reply to: Poll: Are you planning on buying an iPhone? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

I would buy it in a second if I had the money. It looks way superior to anything else out there. Too expensive for me right now, but I will get one eventually.

Never!!!

by larry123 - 6/28/07 10:26 PM In reply to: Poll: Are you planning on buying an iPhone? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

I enjoy being disconected. If it wasn't for my wife I wouldn't even have a phone in the house. But, since she "needs" one, either she answers it or the machine does, and no, I don't check for messages.

There is talk at work about issueing cell phones for all the skilled trades at work for sending work orders to fix machines. I may have to carry the damn thing at work, but it sure an h#ll isn't going home with me.

$$$ is the factor

by johngv - 6/29/07 6:38 AM In reply to: Poll: Are you planning on buying an iPhone? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

I think if I could get it for about $100 I'd go for it. But right now, can't really justify it. With only 8 gig memory, once you load up a movie (Like the ad shows) don't think you will have too much room for other stuff. The keypad looks too small, and no 3G. Plus,I would hate to lose a $400 phone

Absolutely NOT

by jtruman8511 - 6/29/07 7:03 AM In reply to: Poll: Are you planning on buying an iPhone? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

I think Apple is a great technology company and I'm sure the iPhone has many benefits, but I won't buy one:

1) As long as it's tied to a single carrier
2) As long as it's price is so astronomical
3) As long as I have no legitimate professional need for a data plan which would truly make it useful

I'm sure they're very nice phones. I'm not even interested in having one.

What's in a phone

by hogan - 6/29/07 7:15 AM In reply to: Poll: Are you planning on buying an iPhone? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

It's only a phone, not even a high spec one for what is available these days. We designed the 3G phone 10 years ago and for various infrastructure reasons, it still doesn't work too well. I still leave important business until tomorrow, when I have had time to think and make the right decision and I still finish my work early. Get a phone to show off and waste your money and add to the landfill problems, don't expect it to make your life any better.

regards

AT@T ripoff

by rkillgore - 6/29/07 7:21 AM In reply to: Poll: Are you planning on buying an iPhone? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

Not as long as at@t is involved.

That can't manage what they have now.
They are headed for goverment intervention, just like back when the GOV dismantled them years ago.

They don't answer or give satisfaction, even if they do answer.

Not a chance

by drbaum1 - 6/29/07 9:34 AM In reply to: Poll: Are you planning on buying an iPhone? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

That much money for a "phone" that likely won't make calls where I live? We don't all live in Metro areas, and for those of us who don't, carriers like AT&T largely ignore us. My commute is 10 minutes max, and the rest of the time I'm close enough to a computer/stereo/ipod/TV/landline that this device would make no sense.

I'm in line. :P

by Autumnmycat - 6/29/07 10:05 AM In reply to: Poll: Are you planning on buying an iPhone? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

I'm in line already. I've been in line since eight in the morning. There are only about 30-40 people in line and it's one o' clock. Oh well. More for us. :)

Nope blackberry is just fine for me

by Evayy - 6/29/07 10:36 AM In reply to: Poll: Are you planning on buying an iPhone? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

Why just at & t? Nope, i want choices in my provider and what it offers is just not enough to make me choose to spend all that for just a phone!

No! NO! NO!

by Herb Barden - 6/29/07 12:03 PM In reply to: Poll: Are you planning on buying an iPhone? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

I do not have $3,000/year to give At&T. That's what the average yearly cost will be with a 1-line scrip @ $160/mo. plus other costs.
