I haven't seen a thread about the pages.google.com website where you can make websites for free from google, but you need a google account and the websites are www.<name>.googlepages.com which is a drag,
but the actual making of the website is simple has a glitch once in a while \
but for the most part its pretty good
You could also always purchase a domain and have it forward to your google pages website, that way you don't need to use their URL.

So how exactly do you forward your domain to pages.google?
Let's say you buy your domain at godaddy.com, then there are two ways you can set that domain up.
1. Change DNS
You can change the DNS to the host that you have, which basically allows your host to manage your domain and therefore you can change several settings from there. I don't have know if Google Pages has that option.
2. Forwarding
You basically set your domain to forward to the address of your Google Pages website. It's just like a sub domain would do. When sub.domain.com forwards to some geocities website, or in this case, yourdomain.com forwards to pages.google.com or something like that.
Hope this helps.
