At 29 minutes, 24 seconds into Buzz Out Load Podcast 499, did dear sweet Veronica Belmont say,
F_ _ kin' A ? Love the podcast. Congratulations on hitting the big 5-0-0 !
It sounds like she said "freakin A" to me.
it was freakin' A!
freakingly yours,
V
Fracking!
As in, fracking cylon baby.
Makes no difference to me but what's the difference?
Don't they both mean the same thing?
If they don't then what does Freakin A mean?
My guess is that they have made a point of not saying "****" on the show (or they may even have an outright rule against it), and that it makes a difference for that reason. That's the only sensible reason that I can think of.
I personally don't see why it makes a difference if you actually say the word you mean or if you just make sure that everyone knows what you mean that word, when it comes to offending people or not. (Not that I see why anyone would really be offended in this case.)
She's too much a pro to let an F-bomb slip, this was more a nerf-bomb. I think it's become ingrained into every American kid who grew up watching sitcoms how to faux-curse (it's like the tofu of expletives).
Still, with the slapdown of Tom (who was goading her, however playfully) and the mental image of a field of rotting, squashy, mickeyheads... V was acting in a very un-mousketeer-like manner.
If fake Steve Jobs is deeply invested in fake Disney, this could cause a serious rift in their fake relationship. I hope they can knock each other up and work it out over a fauxpaccino.
if you got the early edition.
The real question is: Was the rambling story about styrofoam and disney world worth the almost cursing? I mean, was it that good of a story?
I say that Tom was trying to stop her before you went to far!
JKLOL!
Actually, since it was Veronica, I thought she went all Battlestar Galactica on us and said "frackin A" ![]()
Freaking A would be a runner up for when you can't use the real deal.
...that I always thought this phrase was f'in eh?
haha even if she did ... i wonder how the FCC would intervene...
They wouldn't since it's not regulated. Self-censorship has worked very well in the Podcast arena though. Those who're seen as clean tend to watch themselves just as, if not more than, channels who are regulated by the FCC.
However, it could be argued by someone tenacious enough that saying "Freakin' A" could be interpreted as *dons wig* 'conveying the essential spirit of "****ing A" and, ipso facto, the same thing as saying the aforementioned words' *removes wig*
Best stick to 'I wonder Tom, if I may state my case without your most amusing interjections' in the future lest you cause offence to delicate ears. ![]()
