Any suggestions as to the Sony Vaio FE or FZ series versus the Dell E1505. The Sonys seem to have much better graphics cards at relatively the same price as the dell, but not as nice of screens. I do plan on buying a 22" Samsung for home, though, so maybe that's not so important to me...
in my personal opinion, sony has nicer screens. i believe the xbrite technology used in their comp screen is the the same technology used in their LCD TVs. the fz seems to produce less heat, its lighter, and i personally think the touchpads are much easier to use. not to mention if your talking about graphics cards and screens, your probably looking for something that produces an awesome picture. well the fz has blueray technology for high defintion movies... of course that is an extra 500.
Dell seems a better value. Are you sure about the graphics cards? Last time I checked, Dell offered ATI and NVIDIA cards with dedicated memory at a lower price point than their competitors.
Sonys FZ comes with a card from Nvideas newest 8 series (Geforce 8400 GT). I believe this graphics card is mostly for people who get the blueray drive for HD movies, however in cnets quake 4 test, the FZ performed remarkably better then the dell(http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/sony-vaio-fz180/4505-3121_7-32465689.html?tag=prod.txt.1). Not to mention sony has assured me this is dedicated memory. Either way your probably right when you say you will be paying more for the sony then the dell... but i believe your getting a better machine.

Wait for the new line.

They will have Santa-Rosa and a DirextX10 GPU ( see page 4 for specs for all new models ).
I have a Dell E1505. Very good laptop ( CD T2300, 1.5 GB RAM, 80+250 GB HDD, ATI MR X1400, 986 points in 3DMark06 ).
