not sure what phone to get!

by bonnie le usa - 6/14/07 6:02 PM

i recently bought a cingular 8525 and i've had it for about a week. i've been considering exchanging it for another phone but im not sure what phone to get.

im looking for a phone with the whole calendar/appointment book deal going on. and im big on text messaging and a qwerty keyboard would be nice but isn't necessary. wi-fi would be nice but its more of a luxary than a necessity.

for what i need to do 8525 covers it but seems to be such an expensive phone for someone that isnt using it to its full capabilities.

im not a business woman or anything. just a grad student looking for a phone that she can use to keep track of appointments and whatnot.

i've done my research and read reviews but im stumped.

please help!

If you have enough cash, you should get the iPhone when it comes out on June 29th, I believe it is. If not, I would get the BlackJack. My friend has it, and it is pretty cool with lots of features and stuff. Qwerty keyboard!

about the blackjack

I really like my blackjack, for the price it has a lot of good features. I however am considering the Iphone. If the iphone was 3G I wouldn't think twice. I am concerned it will be slower than my 3G BlackJack. The blackjack plays all types of videos, and music without problems. The 3G is pretty quick. I like the keyboard a lot. Camera is pretty good. I couldn't tell you about the schedule book or outlook features. Don't use those. The Activesync is probably identical to your 8525. Contact list is pretty in-depth. Probably comparable to your 8525. My cousin has the 8525, nothing but problems. He has literally been through 5 in less than a month. Can't send/receive texts, or get email quickly. I connect to yahoo mail on my Blackjack, no problems with it. I still think I might go with the Iphone, if a 3G version comes out in a few months i will be so ticked though.

you could go with the blackberries (never had one) the curve and 8800 look nice or theres the nokia e62 that is a very nice phone i love nokias. or there is the treo 680. and then like they have been saying there is also the blackjack. out of those choices i would go with the treo or the blackberry as the nokia is only avalible as a referb right now but it is also damn cheap at 29 bucks.

Blackberry!

I hate to knock the blackjack because I wanted to like it so badly, but 3G just drains the battery life like you read about. Yes the extended battery helps, but it takes away from the slim form-factor and I am not a huge fan of windows mobile. That being said, the blackjack is a great little device, which you can get for cheap. If you can, get the Blackberry Curve (8300) for Cingular, it's only $299 with a $100 Mail-in-rebate, and the device is fantastic. It's very intuitive and easy to use, has push e-mail, calendar features, and a nice media player. Telenav is great for getting around, and it is a small sexy device with a qwerty keyboard. You should definitely check it out over the 8800 because of the camera and spell check for e-mails is very nice.

i don't really find the extended battery to add much bulk to the blackjack. it just makes it as thick as the camera that bulges out a lil. but the curve looks like it is a good device as well. looks a lil dated for being a brand new device, but it has a long list of features.
