THE new adaware update

by MESMD - 6/13/07 3:58 AM

Hi,
I am using the last 1.06 Adaware Se since 2005.
When I Install the latest update, just downloaded, can I install it without first uninstalling my current version? Or does it install into its own subdirectory? I do not want to lose my backups and how would these be saved or are they no longer needed?

My main Question is: Can I install the new version without having to uninstall my current version? Maybe after running the newer version, I can uninstall the previous one?

Thanks very much for your help.

Miles

AdAware 7

automatically uninstalls the older version. As far as I can tell, there is not way to prevent this.

I just installed Adaware 7....

...and kept the previous version Adawre SE 1.06.

When you are asked what type of uninstall you want(automic or custom), just cancel or X out. Version 7 will continue its installation. There will be two folders, one for each verdsion, at the Lavasoft Folder in the Programs Folder.

If you want to be safe, create a System Restore Point...

Uninstall SE first. I can't find it now but I did read that you need to uninstall all previous versions first.

install AAW Free 2007 at this time. Wait 1 month or more. Bug reports are still coming fast & heavy.

SE is still being supported and updated in usual manner.
This is what I'm doing & suggesting to family & friends. :-)

2007 ADAWARE

THANKS tobeach,
Your logic and way of installing is what I did.
The new 2007 Adaware found 157 bad entries!! When I used the older SE version weekly, It finds 1-5 at most. I went ahead and removed the 167 with a restore point and quarantine. I hope I do not have to restore anything as the system needs to be rebooted for the changes to take effect. I 've delayed that for know?

I installed ad aware 2007, and found that once installed, my pc ran
30% slower, plus I was unable to use system restore. I have now un-installed and reverted bact to the old one. everything is now back to normal.

I installed AAW 2007 yesterday and noticed even though it was the free version with no continuous background protection a new item was running in task manager aawservice.exe and running as a service, which you'd have to stop after each time you'd ran AAW 2007 and using a fair amount of RAM, so I've uninstalled and gone back to the old version.
