What is the best DVD authoring and editing software???

by hersheys07 - 6/9/07 7:39 PM

Best Buy employees don't know much. I got a variety of answers but it sounds as though the best programs out there are Adobe Premier and Pinnacle Studio Ultimate.

I want the most user-friendly program since I would not consider my self tech savy. Any thoughts?

I also would like to spend around $100

Clarification

One clarification point: I have a mini DVD camcorder that connects to my computer via a provided USB cord, not Firewall. That may help with the answer to the software question. Thanks

One must use the Video mode instead of VR mode, but that must be a Panasonic specific step for their own software. I use Sony Vegas Studio which can be had for around $50-75 on sale at BB or CC. It is full of features although it is not extremely user-friendly; it does require some learning of the interface, but once you get the hang of it, the software is amazing. With my Sony DCR-DVD92, I must record in Video mode in order for Vegas to import it correctly.

BTW, the other connection you are referring to is called Firewire, not Firewall.

Editing and burning software

I've been using Pinnacle Studio since "day one" (Studio DV), and have always gotten good results. The interface is easy to navigate, simple and intuitive.
Premier is good, but much more complicated, not to mention expensive. If you want something that gives excellent results, is easy to use, and reasonably priced, I suggest Pinnacle Studio.

I think I left the impression that I was still using Studio "DV". I'm not. I have version 10.7 now and version 11 is available.
By the way it will also burn HD video onto a regular DVD blank. Only about 20 minutes, but still a bonus I think.
