InPhonic, WireFly and Lowermybills.com are SCAM Artists!

by bigdogg70 - 9/27/06 8:57 AM In reply to: Yeah I got scammed by InPhonic too. by JohnSeitz

John, I feel your pain. My rebates are worth $100 - big deal. My issue is that i have been taken advanatage of and lied to. Everybody should know that Inphonic lies and should be out of business. I reported to BBB Online. No way to get through to anybody. Automated voice message hangs up on you and emails get rejected. I would be embarrassed to be an employee of this company.

Go for it John! Please let me know how to make this complain more effective to get our money back!
I'm in exactly situation as yours. They said they will process my $100 data rebate but denied my other $280 loyal customer rebate for the same reason.

InPhonic scam, Verizon phones

by zimzam1934 - 12/26/06 9:33 AM In reply to: Yeah I got scammed by InPhonic too. by apham

Please include me in any legal action against InPhonic. I placed an order with Wirefly in March 2006, filed all of the receipts, bar codes and copy of bills as required for the $290 of rebates. When my checks didn't come, I called and was informed that they must have gotten lost when they switched their redemption center from Phoenix, AZ to White Bear Lake, MN. I resubmitted my claims as requested. I have not received any checks yet. It is clear now that the whole internet operation was purposely set up as a scam!

call the reps from the office of the president

by mightyphung - 12/27/06 10:29 AM In reply to: InPhonic scam, Verizon phones by zimzam1934

A scam scheme that resulted in the company going public, continuing to make multi-million dollar deals with all the biggest telecom companies and online retailers, 90% of the entire online cell phone market and something like 4 million accounts activated? Sucking at customer service is probably not the same thing as being a scammer, but it sucks either way.

Have you talked to someone at InPhonic yet? Try contacting one of their reps from the Office of the President. They've helped when the regular customer service people havent. There's John Delahay (jdelahay@inphonic.com) and Doreen Dennis (ddennis@wirefly.com) that I know of. People seem to have had some luck with both (but more with Jon).

My inphonic rebate status

by partha69 - 11/14/06 7:52 AM In reply to: Yeah I got scammed by InPhonic too. by JohnSeitz

Hi,

This is with reference to my order number 455091957 dt 09/29/2005 on 2 Motorola RAZR V3 mobile phones through Inphonic-Wireless Marketplus agency.

My rebate submission ID numbers are 66892155,66892156 with all the required documentaion as required by them.I've followed it up several times through Cust care and am getting the same response stating that my rebate is under process and soon will be intimated. But never I have been updated so far on the status.Only I have to call them periodically and get this response again. But in past 2-3 months,I am getting different response stating that their rebate process center has been shifted and due to this they are revalidating many of the rebate forms and re-processing them.

I request Inphonic to provide suitable compensation for this hardship caused in time and effort alongwith the $400 rebate due which they owe me.

Thanks

Need advice on InPhonic/CellularChoices.net Rebate Scam

by eeo1973 - 9/11/06 1:20 PM In reply to: Important Inphonic Wirefly Rebate scam information by arch983

I am interested in the Motorola Razr. The CellularChoices.net website offers 2 FREE phones when you sign up for a qualifying plan. I want to use T-Mobile and have no prob signing up for the 2 year plan. They offer a great plan for my family and you can get 2 FREE Razr phones when you sign up for this plan on their site. OK, so far so good. I have done tons of reading on the InPhonics scam and my question is, how does this work? They say the phones are free and when you complete your rebate you get $50(each phone) for, apparently, nothing. I went through most of the ordering process, right up to before I entered my CC# because I wanted to get as much info as possible. It says before rebates I owe $0.00. The phones are absolutely FREE and then I have $100.00 in rebates. In the next step I would add my CC# and it would add $14.99 for next day shipping. So,apparently, all I pay this company is $14.99. T-Mobile will begin billing me $59.99 plus 35.00 per phone activation fee. OK. So all totaled I pay $84.99 then the $59.99 per month for the plan.
On the T-mobile site I would pay over $200.00 for the same phones. What's the deal? I'm trying to figure out how I'm gonna get screwed but I can't. Even if I don't get my $100.00 in rebates, the phones were still FREE. Somebody decipher this for me please!!

Legit - phone is free BEFORE rebate

by Jlak64 - 9/12/06 1:17 PM In reply to: Need advice on InPhonic/CellularChoices.net Rebate Scam by eeo1973

The dealer gets a commission for selling you the plan, so they can afford to give you the RAZRs free up front. Like you said, even without rebates it's a better deal than going to the carrier directly.

Just be aware that you'll be bound to the agent's TOS as well as the carrier's, so if you cancel service before 6 months, you'll get hit with the carrier's early termination fee as well as a fee from the agent.

InPhonics is a FRAUDULENT Company! Do not do busniess

by dayzees13 - 9/12/06 7:13 PM In reply to: Need advice on InPhonic/CellularChoices.net Rebate Scam by eeo1973

Basically, your "deal" sounds good, even if you don't get the rebate- which I promise you, you won't. One of our goals though is to put this fraudulent company out of business. You would be helping them by purchasing these phones as InPhonic will get a kickback. We are imploring you to help put scammers out of business so that they cannot rip off others. There is a class action lawasuit against them right now, along with hundreds of complaints to the ICC and the BBB. Please help us, rather than them. Look elsewhere for your phones. Thanks!

Read the CNET postings -they've screwed a lot of people

by jsbx747 - 9/14/06 1:20 AM In reply to: Need advice on InPhonic/CellularChoices.net Rebate Scam by eeo1973

You're believing that you won't get screwed based on what the site says. But the cite is not giving you complete information. Your actual rebate process might go something like this:

1) Once your phone order goes through, you'll find out that you can't qualify for the rebates until you show that you've been paying your cell phone bills with the same provider for 6 months. This means that you will need to keep the original receipt, bar code, etc., plus records of paying your cell phone bills for 6 months.

2) Then you will find out that there is a 30 or 60 day window for you to mail in all of your documentation, and that the documentation needs to be sent in duplicate in two separate envelopes (1 for each rebate). Make sure to make copies and keep the originals of everything, because you may need to do this step again. It's also a good idea to send all the documents in insured mail so that you have a record of when the they were mailed and when they were received -- in case the company says that it never received what you mailed (this has happened to other CNET posters).

3) After you follow all of their rules, they will send you a cryptic postcard saying that you did not send one or more of the things that you actually sent. You will need to make copies of the documents you kept and send in everything again.

4) They will send you the same cryptic postcard again.

5) If you try to contact the company to ask them what other documentation they need, you will find that there is no phone number that you can use to call a representative. If you try to email them, using their website's email form, your email will never be answered or responded to.

6) You will get annoyed and will post complaints on CNET (like the 100 or so other people who already have), to the Better Business Bureau, etc.

7) You will decide to take them to small claims court. At this point, when you try to look at the site again, in order to compile your records for your case, you will find that someone has made the company try to get its act together. There will be a number to call. You will call it, get put on hold, and finally talk to a person who will tell you that their company (in Minnesota or somewhere) is now handling CNET's claims and that they can reprocess the documentation that you sent before. At this point, mentioning that you're considering taking them to small claims court may help expedite this process. The woman will tell you that you can expect a response in 7-10 business days.

8) In 2-3 weeks, you MIGHT get your checks. If not, repeat steps 2-7.

This is what happened to me, anyway. . . I got the phone last November, mailed the forms in on May 12, and finally got a check in mid-August. Fortunately, I was able to absorb being out $200 for 9 months. Still, considering all the time it took me to get the checks, I might have just been better off purchasing the phone for $200 and saving myself the headache.

You people are not answering my question

by eeo1973 - 9/14/06 8:46 AM In reply to: Read the CNET postings -they've screwed a lot of people by jsbx747

I understand everyone's frustration with this company and rightly so. I HAVE read all the reviews on c-net, scam.com, ripoffreport.com, complaint.com...etc. Fine and dandy. You wanna sue them, be my guest. I wish you all luck. But my question was this: how are you being screwed if the phones are free? I mean, I wouldn't even bother trying to redeem the rebates. Obviously this would be an effort in futility. But if I'm going to sign up for the 2 year T-Mobile contract anyway, have every intention of paying my bills on time and for the entire length of the contract, how am I getting screwed if I get 2 free razr phones? I mean, what am I not seeing? If I didn't pay my bills on time, it would make sense I would be penalized. This would be the case through the carrier too so what's the big deal? All I want to know is what is the scam in this offer, if there is one?

Inphonic rules change

by pnaustx - 9/14/06 5:40 PM In reply to: You people are not answering my question by eeo1973

When most of us purchased our phones/plans we had to pay upfront for the phones, then after certain amounts of time we could apply for rebates to recoup the moneys previously spent. The problem arose when Inphonic's rebate company (probably a contracted company) refused to pay the rebates for bogus reasons. It is my understanding that Inphonic, being in hot water, has now changed the rules so the phones/plans you are looking at may infact be free upfront.

I doubt InPhonic has changed its ways

by dayzees13 - 9/15/06 11:13 AM In reply to: Inphonic rules change by pnaustx

I have had too many problems in the last few weeks with this crappy company to have believed it has changed at all. Whomever you call, (if you can actually get ahold of someone) will tell you your rebates are on the way. Then, when you don't get anything in the mail in 3 weeks and you call the number again, the person is not there, the line is busy, or no one will pick up. I don't care if they have changed, they knew their rebate company was a scam for 2 years. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH INPHONIC.
