Yes, I have had my 8300 since January. Great reception. Great size and battery length. I just dropped a 1 gig card in it and loaded about 5 disks of music into it for running. The Verizon ear buds absolutely are garbage. get an adapter to plug your own ear buds into it.
Just wish the ring tones were easier to figure out. I made 10 ringers and they were all made with the same software. All are the same size. all are mp3's yet the phone will only play 2 of the 10. I am unable to figure out why.
I just go this phone. And I'm a little ticked off that they have disabled the MP3 enabling! Does anyone know if you can load up a microSD card with WMA files from your computer and then plug it into the phone and play them? I read that one of you was gonna try and get the old software. Were you successful?
I have to say I've been a pretty happy Verizon customer for like 6 or 7 years now. But this crap is causing me to think twice about sticking with Verizon.
Sorry for my negative post. OOPs!
With the new OS on the VX8300, it's very easy to play MP3s and WMAs.
1.) Insert card into phone.
2.) Navigate to Memory under the last tab of the menu.
3.) Select the card and allow phone to initialize.
4.) Remove card. Load all your MP3s and WMAs into my_music directory
5.) Insert card into phone and start JAMMIN'!!!
Now I am really starting to like this phone!!! ![]()
Hey, it seems like you know quite a bit about cell phones. Maybe you can help me and some others that are having the same issue as me...
I have a few videos on my phone that I want to put on my computer (a few of them are pretty large and are taking up a lot of memory on my card). I managed to send some of them to the Verizon Wireless Pix Place and a few are too big to send. As for the ones in my Pix Place account, how can I save those videos onto my computer? They play in Quicktime at the Pix Place website, but to save them on my hard drive I need QT PRO which I don't want to buy since I rarely use quicktime. Is there any way I can save these videos onto my hard drive without QT PRO, is there some other program?
And for the videos that are too big to send, how do I get those on my hard drive?
thanx for everything...but i was having trouble with the file format of my music......i would copy and paste from my cda "compact disc audio" it would come up on my phone but would say "liscence aquisition failed" i ended up getting imtoo mpeg encoder and converted them into mp3's and now it works wonders..but thanks for ur support!
IM TRYING TO PUT MOVIES OR MUSIC VIDEOS ON MY PHONE....WHAT FORMAT DO I PUT THEM AS TO PLAY THEM IN MY FLIX FOLDER OR GIMME SOME SUGGESTIONS ON WHAT TO DO!!! THANK
I also think you know quite a bit about this phone. I am considering buying it specifically to use it as an alternative to my mp3 player (at the gym, etc.) as well as a phone. How good is it as an mp3 player? How much music does it hold? Will it replace my mp3 player for most purposes?
i followed the five steps. but on the fifth one start jamming there is no play option under card memory my music any help would be great.cant wait to listen to the mp3's on this phone. thanks sgtpat9498.
I was messin' with our babysitter's phone today.
Popped microSD into the phone and it created directories, including one called "my_music"
Copied MP3s into that folder (not in sub folders though cause the phone is too dumb to allow you to navigate them). so they are just a jumbled pile in that folder.
Couldn't activate the "MP3" function using "0000000, 11, blah blah" because it said "Service not available" or something like that.
Got it to play songs by closing the phone and hitting the "Play" button for about 5 seconds (when the little animated bubbles stopped moving), THEN hitting the FORWARD or NEXT button on the front of the phone. It brings you to the vCAST window and says "Adding songs to playlist" or something like that. THEN you can use the vCAST player to listen to your songs.
+ You can listen to MP3s in stereo at a pretty loud volume
- To list with headphones you need one of those submicro adapters (reducer).
Verizon. I know you're trying to get people to buy music using the vCAST service, but why make it such a pain in the arse for average users who just wanna listen to their current music collection. Lame.

Actually, I believe that's an improvement.
You must have the new OS as do I. You no longer have to go through the secret code area to turn on the MP3 playback mode. Now you just place the music right in the my_music folder (which the phone will do when you let it initialize the card) and hit play.
That's actually not that bad IMHO.![]()
Just got the phone yesterday and really like it except the conversion problem.
Where do you find that folder labeled my_music?
Also, how do I listen to podcasts?
Thanks!!
The "my_music" folder (and all other "my_" folders for that matter) must either be created by you or by the phone.
The phone will create the folder(s) when you get it to initialize the microSD card. Also, I have heard that this will not work if the card is larger than one gig.
But, you can create the folder yourself, from you omputer. Just stick the microSD into a card reader connected to you computer.
Hope this helps.
Hi raxxethetroll,
First of all, by sending through email you need to make you mp3 a maximum of 22 seconds. Then, you need to send it to yournumber@vzwpix.com. Furthermore, if you get the USB cable to the phone, you can make your mp3 rings 30 seconds. Don't use Verizon's software, though, use bitpim (it's freeware).
Regards,
Rob
I just got my LG VX8300 phone on 6/16/07. I have tried sending a MP3 to the phone and it does not work. I have tried sending a WMA to the phone and it does not work. I can put WMA's on the Micro-SD and they will play but MP3's will not. What are the settings I need to use to save the MP3's.
Try this...
1.) Press Ok
2.) Press the number 0. This should bring up a code entry of about 6 characters long (i.e. bunch of question marks).
3.) Enter all zeros. This should bring up the "secret menu".
4.) Scroll to the bottom and select MP3 settings.
5.) Turn this feature on and press Ok.
Should work for MP3s now.
Good luck!
