I own 2 - 42" Widescreen Samsung DLP and 36" CRT Toshiba. For me DLP HD is the best, just change the bulb when needed - new TV! Unlike Plasma & LCD which need total replacement.
I own a Samsung DLP and love it. The picture is perfect and bright. To bad it does not go on the walll like a plasma.
My analog TV has a great picture. And I only have basic cable. I have seen hdtv on a friend's tv. I think my picture is better. And I don't want another cable box cluttering up my home. I'll wait until everything is integrated in a stand alone tv. And then I'll think about it.
Had cable. Dropped it. Had Satellite Dish. Dumped it, too. Just too many commercials, too much garbage that they want us to PAY for. There are 8 hours of commercials every day on channels that have commercials. They're the ones who should be paying for the privilege of having them on...not the viewers. I quit. I don't bother with TV anymore.
And I Repeat... This is not only true but, "The Smartest Answer So FAR!!!"

Works great, and I consider it to be a good buy. I would definitely recommend one with a cable card slot, and also a couple of HDMI inputs along with component TV inputs. Additionally having a second RF input is a good feature too, so you can hook up an external antenna along with you cable connection if you have it. Just a small indoor UHF antenna with about 50 db of gain will give you a good signal with your local channels. I have this in case the cable goes out. You can get an HDTV for about $600 up to many, many thousands, but they will all likely give you a satisfactory picture. With a bigger room, larger sets are more desirable.
If you start out with a less expensive one, you can always update to a larger on in the future and put the initial HDTV into the den or bedroom. Every year, a given dollar expenditure will get you a better TV set than the year before. For what I can see, they just keep getting better and better.
Yes and Its the best thing I ever invested in The picture whether on Sattellite or my HD-DVD player is breathtaking

No; I'd sure like one, but the cost is just too much at present (one of these days, such as when I pick up an Xbox 360, I will nab one for sure).
AS A SEPERATE AFTER-THOUGHT, LATER.
RIVER.
I just bought a Sony Bravia KDL-40V2500. This size LCD was selected because it fit my wife's entertainment center furniture. Very pleased so far.
Have a perfectly good working 32" JVC, it has a great picture so I don’t see the benefit in wasting a lot of money just to get a little sharper picture. Maybe if I was starting out from scratch I’d consider it but so far I’m not so impressed that I can say for sure pony up the extra money. As it is i already have a good digital 5.1 surround system, DVD player, DVD recorder, and digital cable. That’s a whole lot of upgrading to do and I’m not convinced it’s worth it. I've heard many brag about how much better it is but feel like they’re either trying to sell something or trying to justify all the money they spent.
