What do you use to protect the computer from hackers, viruses and spyware?

If you can get the pc to boot, try this. Click Start then Run then type in the following command without the quotes... "msconfig" and then click ok. When the configuration window opens, locate and click on the tab called Startup and then remove all checkmarks in all boxes except for the one(s) that are antivirus.

If your computer will let you go online, keep the configuration utility open and surf to the site http://sysinfo.org/startuplist.php

Keep this website open and using the configuration utility, next to each checkmark will be a program name. Using that program name, enter that name into the website's search and then click search. The results will tell you if you can remove the program from startup. Y means Yes, N means No, U means your choice.

After going through the entire configuration, click "apply" then "close" then "restart". This will disable the problematic program that is possibly causing you errors/problems.

Upon rebooting, run a virus and an antispyware scan.
