during diagnotic check, dell tech say appeared some extraneous programs might be running and i needed spyware check. i ran att/yahoo spyware/virus scan and found nothing. but spysweeper and spydoctor scans both reported finding some dangerous programs; however system search failed to locate those programs on my computer. microsoft malicious software removal tool also found nothing in complete system scan. any idea what's going on? bob haring
spysweeper and spydoctor scans both reported finding some dangerous programs
Which Operating System do you have?
What kind of programs did Spysweeper and spydoctor find?
I would suggest to go for an on-line scan:
Please run the Housecall online virus scan located at:
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp
Follow the prompts to scan your hard drive for viruses. Select the "Autoclean" option so that Housecall will remove any viruses from your system.
When the scan is finished, please restart your computer.
Then please run the Panda scan here:
http://www.pandasoftware.com/
Panda ActiveScan on the left .
Choose to "Disinfect automatically," and follow the prompts. Delete any viruses found, and restart your computer.
Finally, please run the WindowSecurity trojan scan here:
http://www.windowsecurity.com/trojanscan/
Remove any trojans found, and restart your computer.
Pls. let us know IF the on-line scans found anything.
i have windows xp sp2. most dangerous program was cited as tibs dialer. will try online scans and report.
