I have been looking for a new cell phone, I am not bound in my current cell phone contract so I can go anywhere. Currently I have Cingular, but can't even get reception in my home with my old cell phone. I went out yesterday and signed a new contract and got a 3G Sumsung zx20. It has better reception at home, but I dropped a call for no reason I had great reception at the time too. I also can't seem to open it, the screen only stays on for a few seconds and it comes with only 3 ringtones. Not even a normal ring. I don't need a bunch of options, like the camera, internet, radio or to text message. I want a good reliable cell phone. I don't know where to go. Of course I can return this one, and plan to, but still need a new phone and maybe service provider too.
Can anyone help me?????
I've been using Verizon for a long time, and they have never really let me down. I have a RAZR V3m which supports all of the features that I need. It seems like you really don't want any specific features from your new phone except calling. In that case, Verizon offers many great phones for under $100 (several free ones, in fact) and does not charge too terribly much for services. I'm not sure exactly what type of service provider for looking for, but if it was up to me, I'd pick Verizon.
I too have had Verizon for many years and the coverage has been great. All the new phones seem to come with all the bells and whistles regardless if you want them or not. The razr is a good phone my wife uses it, and I have a Q due to the fact that I find myself text messaging more often than not. You also have the option to keep your cell phone number if you switch.
Far be it for me to disagree -- I like Verizon's service as well. You'll most likely have sticker shock if you move, but I can make a call anywhere I need to -- and I travel quite a bit. The only place I cannot receive calls now is in a place called Angel Fire, NM, about an hour east of Taos. That's the only dead spot I've found (ironically, Cingular is the only provider that has a tower anywhere close to Angel Fire).
As for phones, I love my new Samsung u740. My wife got a PDA phone and she is constantly telling me how much cooler my phone is! It's a newer phone that allows you to make phone calls in clamshell mode but you can open it in landscape mode and you have a QWERTY keyboard for texting. The video is great and the battery does well for all that it does (I've had it about 3 months now -- I got it two weeks after it hit the shelves by dumb luck).
Good luck with your decision.
Let me just say no matter what anyone says i have been very very happy with verizon and i love my new env phone its the first phone ive ever had, but trust me even if u dont need all the neat stuff for texting and music, it's still great, i would definately go with verizon u don't have to get the env, but i know of many other great phones all from verizon too. so please take all of our advice and get verizon!!!!
I have found that the t-mobile dash is the way to go the service is great too!before you buy anywhere go to www.5linx.net/mrty
I have been using Cingular Service for many years. My wife and I have traveled all over the U.S. and have had excellent service since we stopped using their "free" phones. We spent about $50 on the first phones we switched to from the free phones and from then on we have had great service and luck. We do not like to spend alot of money on the phones them selves so we always went with the cheap phones. Now that we have broke away from that our service dependability has increased tremendously. There was one spot we could always count on loosing a call when we traveled through it and now we have no worries. Spend $50 - $100 and get a phone, keep the service, and then see where you are at. I just purchased two razr v3 phones and am waiting to see how they do before I do the same thing. Hope this is helpful.
