I'm thinking about buying one of these units however I don't think I'll use the portable option enough to make it worthwhile. But if I can use them to play XM through my home stereo I know I'll get my money's worth. The Cnet review talked about the transfer rate being only 128 (??) and not enough for high fidelity. Will the home dock connect up to my stereo receiver? And assuming I get a good (XM signal Washington DC Metro area) what kind of sound quality can I expect through my home audio system. Will it compare to CD quality, a strong FM signal or a not so strong FM signal?
I have my Pioneer Inno hooked up to my Bose system and the sound produced is great. I have a difficult time distinguishing any difference between the XM produced music and CDs. Don't discount the portable use. I have a pair of Belkin ear phones with the built in antenna and I've used it far more than I ever thought I would---really great if you're commuting on trains or buses. Hope you like yours as much as I do.
