Folks,
I am planning to buy a A/V receiver and speaker system. I have decided on speaker system.
Can someone suggest a good A/V receiver with HDMI (Up-conversion & De-Interlacing) and other advanced features.
Thank you,
Regards,
Kiran.
THINGS. PRIMARILY your budget, as well what type of set-up you desire;

WHAT BRAND and configuration?

Clean, simple and trouble free run all your vidio straight to the t,v and audio straight to the a/v/ amp WHY? some satellite or cable hi-def systems will not pass thru a a/v/ amp also I always prefer a direct hook up instead of passing thru on thing to get to another also a non switching a/v/ amp will be a lot cheaper As far as amps go any top brand $250 amp will do the job perfectly ITS ALL IN THE SPEAKERS. speakers are a lifetime investment and are the most important part of your home theater system steweee
What if he only has 1 or 2 HDMI inputs on his TV and has 3 or more HDMI capable components? I think then he could use a HDMI switching receiver, especially since inexpensive stand-alone HDMI switchers aren't supporting v1.3 just yet.
If you can afford $500-$800 on a receiver then look at the new Onkyo lineup. Their TX-SR605 has HDMI 1.3 switching and analog to HDMI conversion so when you have a source going to your receiver in analog (component, RCA) you can send the signal from your receiver to your TV via HDMI.
Here is a link to the receiver:

p.s. it comes in silver or black.
IS A GREAT A/V RECEIVER AT A VERY REASONABLE PRICE. CRUTCHFIELD'S is an excellent mail order/on-line retailer; their prices aren't the cheapest, but includes shipping, and their reputation is priceless.
Best wishes,

to say that it's a great reciever...i admit the new line from Onkyo has great specs and has kept me from buying from their 2006 line. But this reciever has only been out for what 2 days? might want to read a couple reviews before you pony up $500 bucks for the reciever. My problem with the TX-605 is that it only has 2 HDMI inputs, though the step up model (TX-705) has 3 HDMI inputs, not to mention a little more power for the speakers. However the downside is that the 705 isn't scheduled to be released till July. I don't know what kind of speakers you purchased but if it's on the high end i would say that you should wait around a little longer for the HDMI 1.3 bask in the glory of Dolby TrueHD,and DTS-HD. Or supposed glory i should say. The new codec has my attention at least. Here's the Crave article on the new Onkyo line.

/The TX-SR605 is out of stock at http://www.Crutchfield.com
I have been very satisfied with Denon for the past 4 years, but major makers jumping into 1.3 has been awaited with curiosity as what we can in the way of glorious improvements & when.
