If you don't click the other check boxes the other users might get stuck with this thing.
From my previous post,
"If you go to the "Tools" then "Options" in Defender you can scroll down the page and tell it not to run in real time, as well as a couple of check boxes at the bottom of the Options page that are about Administrator and other accounts running Defender. You may want to un-check everything on that page that will make it run including the scans. Also you'll probably have to turn off the user account control to let all these changes happen. I think the idea behind having these security features built into Vista is a good one, my issues are about the implementation. Defender isn't friendly enough and the user account control..."
I was getting a Windows Defender error from any user at logon.
I finally tried this and it worked for me. You can not delete Windows Defender folder or the contained files. So try this...
Click START. Goto All Programs - Accessories. Right-click on command prompt. Choose Run as Administrator. Click Continue.
Type cd \program files
Type(with quotes) ren "windows defender" defender
Type exit
Reboot
My errors quit and Defender no longer loads. THIS DOES NOT REMOVE DEFENDER, it only renames it so windoze wont find it. You still can not remove the folder or files, but I haven't tried 'safe mode' yet.
