Glare

by emelick - 10/26/07 8:24 AM In reply to: 4665 vs 4661 by marsam13

If you have a crt or other glass panel tv. check to see if you have a problem viewing it during the day. Y ou can also put a picture frame of the same size (as the tv) and research that way. I would say if it is a huge problem I would go with 61f if it is a little problem go ahead with 65f.

Good Luck

I'll start with the Short Answer...

by Mr_Samsung Samsung staff - 9/13/07 9:05 AM In reply to: **61, **71, **81 by pwongsv

The last two numbers in a Samsung model number represent the series of TVs. It seems you already know that but just in case someone is reading this and doesn't know, I thought I would share that info.

First off, these are all LCD HDTVs. I will give you the top level features and if you need more info, let me know.

61 series - 1080p

65 series - 1080p with Super Clear Panel (which increases the contrast ratio and makes colors more vivide)

71 series - 1080p with Super Clear Panel and Auto Motion Plus 120Hz

81 series - 1080p with Super Clear Panel and LED backlight (top of the line)

All three of these TVs have 3 HDMI inputs (2 rear / 1 side). The 61 and the 65 series have been reviewed by CNET and the 65 series scored higher than any other LCD that has been reviewed. I'm assuming the 71 series will be reviewed soon since it just started selling at major retailers. The 81 series will be at major retailers in a month or two.

Does this help? Are you looking for answers about a specific feature? Let me know.

Have a good day,

Mr. Samsung

Software Version LN-T4665F?

by wyseguy - 10/14/07 7:50 AM In reply to: The 4665 is the better TV by Mr_Samsung Samsung staff

Mr Samsung,

On a LN-T4665F, how can one determine the current software version. Talking to level one support at Samsung was useless? Many thanks.

Crunch Time

by citomotto - 5/20/07 10:29 AM In reply to: Samsung 4665F vs 4661F by HDnewbie

Mr. Samsung et al.
I am getting close to purchasing my first lcd and have been looking a lot lately. I am not tied to brand but do take reviews seriously. Honestly I was knocked out when I saw the Sony XBR2 in December and am anxiously awaiting the new V-series as the rumors of upscaling, lcd lighting and one-inch thickness are interesting. Whether I can wait to evaluate that tv and price is questionable.
I was very interested in the new Samsung 4065F and saw it at a local store. I would have bought it then and there as it is a beautiful creature. The reflection though is not something I can deal with. My home has long rectangular windows acrosss the entire tv facing wall. The 4065F was way to shiny. My question is what would be the closed picture quality to that set in the Samsung line and second what truth is there to the rumor that Samsung is releasing a similar set with anti-glare this summer?
I hate to wait but is it worth it?
Thanks,
Citomotto

Reflection on 4665

by pvrick - 5/31/07 2:39 PM In reply to: Crunch Time by citomotto

Crunchtime,

I have had my 4665 for a week and was initially concerned about the reflection as well. Have it mounted on a mount that swivels down about 5 degrees. I found that the reflection is there when the TV is off, but when on, not an issue at all. Particularly with the set swiveled down a couple of degrees.

Awsome TV. Hook it up to an OPPO upscaling DVD player and you won't believe what it does for your old DVD's

Software Update

by bcaperton - 8/22/07 6:18 AM In reply to: Crunch Time by citomotto

Mr. Samsung - I just purchased LN-T4661F (Aug 19) from BestBuy. Not even set up yet, but am wondering if I need to request software update. They commented that this was last one in stock of this model.

Post 70 of 147

You shouldn't need a software update

by Mr_Samsung Samsung staff - 8/22/07 8:59 AM In reply to: Software Update by bcaperton

BCaperton -

Thanks for purchasing a Samsung LCD TV. You shouldn't need a software update because your LCD probably has the latest software. When these TVs first came out, there were some HDMI handshake issues with a few sources. We resolved this problem and updated the software on all LCD TVs produced after mid June.

If you call 1-800-Samsung, you can tell them your serial number and they will let you know if your model needs an update. However, these TVs are flying off the shelves. I doubt that this TV has been sitting at a retailer like Best Buy for over two months.

Just an FYI - if an update is needed, it's an easy process. We send a tech guy to your house and they put in a USB drive to the back of the TV. It takes about 30 minutes to update the software.

Hope this helps. Enjoy your new HDTV.

Mr. Samsung

Picture appears Zoomed and can't get back to normal- LNT4665

by jsidesjr - 9/15/07 2:31 PM In reply to: You shouldn't need a software update by Mr_Samsung Samsung staff

For whatever reason the top and bottom of my picture is cut off and I cannot get back to "normal." It doesn't matter if I am on local or HDMI channels. Tried all choices of sttings on (16:9 or wide fit, etc) nothing seems to work. Frustrating watching sports as it cuts off scores at top and bottom of screen along with the heads of people on close ups. Tried all solutions in manual to no avail. All channels are affected. Also, because everything is "zoomed" picture has degraded.

Could be the set-top box...

by Mr_Samsung Samsung staff - 9/17/07 9:20 AM In reply to: Picture appears Zoomed and can't get back to normal- LNT4665 by jsidesjr

Jsidesjr -

My brother had a similar problem and when I went over to his house, I realized that the cable box had it's own "zoom" feature that didn't have anything to do with the TV. He accidently activated that feature.

If there is a "settings" button on your cable remote, see if there are picture settings that have a zoom feature. Or you can call your cable provider and ask them how to change it.

Hope that helps.

Mr. Samsung

THE BETTER SET IS THE LN-4665/5265 HANDS DOWN..............

by Riverledge - 5/31/07 5:30 PM In reply to: Samsung 4665F vs 4661F by HDnewbie

THE THING IS that SAMSUNG HAS PUT A SHINY (PLASMA-LIKE) finish on the xx-65 series, too look more plasma like. IF you want a regular LCD matte finish go with the xx61 models.

Best shopping,
rivrt.

glossy finish

by harksey - 6/19/07 8:46 PM In reply to: THE BETTER SET IS THE LN-4665/5265 HANDS DOWN.............. by Riverledge

Riverledge, you are way wrong about the "shiny plasma-like" finish, the reason samsung uses that finish is because it helps the LCD panel itslef achieve a higher contrast ratio (15000:1 vs 10000:1) which really helps the panel get much more saturated and vivid colors than the XX61 models. And even though it has a glossy finish, its such a bright LCD that it holds its ground pretty well in a bright room.
