Casio EX-Z750

by MiKeyes - 5/13/07 11:42 AM In reply to: What brand of digital camera do you own? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

What's with this poll??? At this time there are 160 posts, 11 of which are Sony owners, yet the poll says Sony is 64%. That's ridiculous, as anyone even slightly familiar with this market knows. Canon is, and has long been, the "800-pound gorilla" of digital camera makers, both dSLR and point-and-shoot. The large number of posters with Canons confirms this.

As for my Casio - very happy with it. It takes excellent pictures, slips in a shirt pocket, and the battery seems to last forever. I couldn't find another camera that delivered all the EX-Z750's features at anywhere near its price, and am happy to say that they all work as advertised.

Me thinks...

by LaJan7 - 5/13/07 4:27 PM In reply to: Casio EX-Z750 by MiKeyes

...many more people take the time to click a box than type a reply. ;-) But what "market" is the one you are referring to? Your comments sorta echoed what my first comments were, saying that putting ALL digital camera's in a single poll skews the poll's appearance, not its results.

Right now, I'm fairly sure more CAMERAS IN GENERAL are being sold by either smaller companies tossing out "product" that's AWESOME to 1st time users and companies just below The Big Two: Canon and Nikon. And with new models with lower prices coming out each week, the main companies can't possibly have more new cameras without selling stuff they're ashamed to put their names on.

Konica-Minolta Z6

by jimhm - 5/13/07 1:15 PM In reply to: What brand of digital camera do you own? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

I've been really happy with this little guy. I got it cheap from an ebay vendor. Konica-Minolta have pulled out of the digital camera market, so this is kind of an orphan. Beautiful, crisp images, though, at 6 MP, and very nice QuickTime movies (with audio) as well. Shipped with a 1GB SD card, good for around 1000 pictures.

KODAK

by osopolarglacier - 5/13/07 2:17 PM In reply to: What brand of digital camera do you own? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

Overall for price, ease of use,and quality I have a Kodak Z740 w/10x optical zoom. The only feature I find lacking is electronic stabilization, that would be handy during night shots.I had this camera for almost 2 years and have always been satisifed with the results the 5 mega pixels is more than sufficent for photos up to 8x10

Kodak camera

by jprkenny - 5/13/07 2:37 PM In reply to: What brand of digital camera do you own? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

Mine is a Kodak C743 model or whatever, I'm pretty happy with it as I only intend to take family photos. Not overly spectacular camera but it won't disappoint either. I bought mine at Christmas and had a budget of $300.00 AUD, but saved $80.00 on Kodak, even though there were other brands available, because my mother always used Kodak film camera and we were almost always happy with the results.

brand of camera

by kimsbb1 - 5/13/07 2:53 PM In reply to: What brand of digital camera do you own? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

I have had several canon slrs. I started out with the canon rebet film and digital. I just recently upgraded to the canon xti. First question the purchaser needs to ask themselves is How often would this item be used. And what kind of events would it be used for?

Once you determine those answers you can decided the cost amount. Big thing for me is extra accessories for a camera. And how easy to get to access them. Software plays a great roll also.

good luck with your purchase

My camera

by Blue-J - 5/13/07 3:34 PM In reply to: What brand of digital camera do you own? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

Canon Digital Rebel XTi. Originally bought the XT, and traded it for the XTi. I have several lenses from beginners to expert and can go from 10mm to 400mm and macro in between.

All are great and there are great forums and review sites out there you may wish to join to discuss or read further. I love this camera, I just wish I had nothing else to do so I could use it more.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX1

by wicker_man - 5/13/07 4:38 PM In reply to: What brand of digital camera do you own? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

I've owned the LX1 for almost a year and it is a very nice camera.

The combination of the native 16:9 sensor and 28mm wide Leica lens (with Mega Optical Image Stabilisation) means I get some great shots, plus with full manual controls.

It's nice and compact and looks expensive, but the only issue is the high noise levels at ISO200 and above. If Panasonic used a sensor such as the one in Fuji's F30, this camera would be pretty close to perfect...

Canon 20 D, 8.3 mp.

by ccwatkins - 5/13/07 7:26 PM In reply to: What brand of digital camera do you own? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

Yes, I'm quite happy with the Canon 20 D [it replaces a 6.3 mp. Canon D 60]. Very good battery life, an excellent professional camera for under $1000.

DSC-W90 (SuperSteadyShot)

by jmdatulsaxena - 5/13/07 8:38 PM In reply to: What brand of digital camera do you own? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

This is the best digital camera, I compared with top models of Sony as well as other brand names. Super Steady Shot feature has enhances it's power and gives very good quality pictures with no blur. If you take 10 pictures, 9 comes out to be the best.

what brand of digital camera do you own?

by tyrobert123 - 5/13/07 8:50 PM In reply to: What brand of digital camera do you own? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

I own a canon s3is poimt and shoot. It has a 12x zoom and is as close to an dslr as you can get with out spending 500 + bucks. I bought a lense adapter and a couple of filters and couldn't be happier, except that in july canon is coming out with the s5is which has a shoe adapter for a slave flash as well as many other upgrades. you can also get 1x,2x,& 3x telephoto lenses, wide angle, and macro lense that work great despite what you might think. great camera for an excellent price.

Wow!

by LaJan7 - 5/16/07 4:18 PM In reply to: what brand of digital camera do you own? by tyrobert123

That really DOES sound great and I need another inexpensive "pocket rocket" for taking into places I can't risk the Nikon D80. Also, the D80, like many DSLR's, doesn't do macro worth spit without a very good and expensive lens. Your camera sounds like the best of both worlds if a compromise is needed.

Cost? Location you bought it? Recommendations? Accessories out of the box? As much as you're willing to tell would be appreciated!

Olympus Wide Zoom C8080

by lmathews - 5/13/07 9:52 PM In reply to: What brand of digital camera do you own? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

Had this digital prosumer camera since 4 years now. Extremely happy with the results. This 8MP camera with excellent lens gives quality shots and decent battery life. It takes both xD and CF cards, thats a lot of memory.Dont think I'll switch to a dSLR soon.
