'Just bought a Finepix S700 for the daypack
(rather than the weight of the SLR and lenses).
I shopped for a month and found the S700
at Newegg and Amazon. It is a great camera for the price: $220.
Advanced features, uses SDHC and 4GB cards, takes great picts,
handles nicely.
best little camera and easy to use good clear pics and easy to download
I really like my tiny Aiptek--it takes remarkably good pix for it's size and cost. I don't do any photography that requires a really nice camera. I did the 35mm thing for many years...ease and simplicity makes trips more fun since I don't spend all my time taking good pictures.
I too carried a 35mm with with me everywhere I went for 40 years, and realized I was missing where I was in order to take pictures. Now simple point and shoot and have a good time. Not for everyone, I know, but works for me.
I use a Fujifilm A500. It's a good little camera , but I don't like having to use batteries. I had a Sony Mavica and used a lithium rechargeable battery, loved it. The Fuji uses 2 AA batteries, which run out fast.
Most of the posts here show a balance between most brands. The post is unbelievably biased in favor of Sony. Somebody must have messed with the polls somehow. I'm sure that there are a lot of Canon owners out there.
Personally, I own a Fuji Finepix F30 and I can say that it takes higher quality pictures than my Canon SD630. Yes, the Canon is slimmer than the Fuji, but the Fuji is compact enough. Plus the Fuji takes incredible quality pictures, even in total darkness! The battery life is amazing, comparable to the Casio EX series, which my cousin owns. I took 200+ pictures without turning off the camera and I had in between 1-2 bars battery life left, out of 3 bars. Yes, Fuji hasn't been given enough credit.
Love the cam well i feel its one of the best point and shoot cam with its 12X optical zoom and amazing manual control along with a very good auto focus...its as close as a point and shoot can get to an SLR, you can check some of the pics i have shot using this one @ http://gr8buddy.blogspot.com
I have a Kodak CX 7430. Takes great pictures and relatively long battery as long as the kids don't get it. LOL
Love them both.
Kodak Easyshare C310, my 1st Digital camera. I liked the results and with a 256mb card it takes a while to fill. Currently using Ni-MH rechargeables (AA). Have'nt had any probs with it since I bought it 13mnths ago.
We own and use Fuji FinePix S-7000 and S-304, and Casio Exilim. All are fine, the S-7000 for more serious shoots, the S-304 for hiking, etc. and the Exilim for everyday carrying around in purse or pocket.
Canon is the go for quality digital imaging.
I am technically challenged so to speak. This camera is my second
from Canon and I have tried a couple of other brands. The ease of use
and photo quality is second to none, I photograph cats being a breeder and I have the confidence to share them on my website for all to see and I am so very proud of them.
Middle age is the new age for learning more and enjoying photography.
SB.
I have a Nikon D70. Have had since first released and find it most versatile. Very fast Auot Focus for muliple high speed shots.
User programming is simple and fast.
Intergrated flash leaves a bit to be desired, but then that is the nature of the beast. Fit remote flash for superiour night or flash enhanced shots.
Overall. Great.

Have just recently bought Canon 5D and I love it. I also keep my Nikon D70 and have no complaints.
I'm wrapt with my D70s, but I splashed out and also got a good lens, a Nikor AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikor 18-200mm f/3.5~5.6G IF-ED and I never take it off, don't have to ![]()
