Vista!! What a bloody rip off;

by philossophy - 5/7/07 9:42 AM In reply to: Microsoft admits Vista failure by soldano

Hey, being retired has its advantages, and disadvantages! When I saved up enough Molah to by a Vista, I found that 90% of my games don't work! Whats worse alot of new games out ( created in 2006 ), just don't work, including their patches. Hey, I had a 8 track, graduated to the Cassette, which led me to go to CD's, now there's a mini CD...sheesh, I went from a Webtv to a XP 2000 computor, then to a 2003 xp, now I'm at Vista...sheesh again. I wouldn't mind change, if it wasn't crippling to my wallet, but Gees, Bill Gates, why release a system to the public that has more kinks in it, then what we need!! LOL, I bet Bill Gates is laughing all the way to the bank, for suckering us Baby Boomers, Thanx Bill

Some Joke.

Most Microsoft apps will work on Macs new OS, so MS had two choices. 1, Spend more time on inventing, writing and improving or 2, screw Mac and MS's entire customer base by changing the game so they can continue down the cheaper, less professional road of cranking out half a**ed memory hog programs. Their answer, of course, was to screw everybody. My next will be a Mac or Ubuntu based. MS may realise they don't have must of a throne left, soon.

Give it a break PLEASE...

I've give some of the MS haters here a break and assume maybe you got a legitimate gripe about Vista installations on your older XP and earlier systems. I put it on my 16 month old computer (non core 2 or whatever the latest geewiz stuff is out there) and it works fine. It certainly seems faster than XP Pro. The only upgrade I did was to increase the RAM to 2GB, but it seemed to run fine on only 1GB.

I'm starting to wonder how many of you ranters work for Apple? Get a life---PLEASE!

Life intact, use both...

Seems to me your barking from one and only one side of the fence, maybe you should think about getting the life or at least expanding your horizons.

Let me see, you can get a MacPro and run both OSX and WinXP and Vista and Linux or you can get a PC and run WinXP or Vista and that's it? Seems to me the choice is a no brainer? Why limit yourself? Buy the MacPro.

114,000 viruses and counting have infected Windows OS over time, compared to ZERO, NONE, NADA, NOT A ONE on the OSX side. Before you start on the "more PC's than Mac's hence more viruses on the PC rant" 25 million Macs and 500+ million PCs so we're looking at a 20:1 ratio so you would expect there to be at least 5,700 reported viruses on the Mac side if you wanna play law of averages theory - right? But Mac has NONE, not one on the Mac OSX side that has not required user input (key being requires user input to infect -- as in they click on an image/link they downloaded they then are prompted for their admin password and must enter it so that file can infect).

But again, why does anyone want a PC eclusively? It's like going to car dealership and saying I only buy 1969 VW bugs because everyone else buys them and it's easy to fix. One might say, buy the 2007 BMW as you don't have to fix it.

I honestly can't see how someone can seriously debate this, boggles my mind. If this really is just a debate about how cheap one is, then just say it -- nothing wrong with saying I don't wanna spend a lot of money on a computer. Vista hardware requirements are such that you'll need to spend more (close to the same as you would on a MacPro), but you can certainly get a very cheap WinXP based system for $800 -- but again, is this thread about price difference?

Rob.

Give it a break?

by tlsmith1138 - 5/7/07 4:31 PM In reply to: Give it a break PLEASE... by cgarrity

I work in an electronics store. Unlike my customers, I use to program computers before there was 95, 98, xp. I work on computers for free, just because I like fixing things most people can't. I know computers inside and out. My customers don't, don't want to, never will. They are consumers, not geeks or techies. I'm so glad you know how to make more of your machine than MS says you need to run their programs. Bet your mama doesn't. Bet most of your sisters and brothers don't. You don't seem to be able to see much farther past the end of your nose than MS can.

Locking This Thread...

by Grif Thomas Moderator - 5/7/07 4:49 PM In reply to: Microsoft admits Vista failure by soldano

Although it's been fun reading the posts in this thread, it's gone way into the negative Microsoft/Vista bashing thread. Arguments and personal attacks clearly aren't appropriate.

Obviously, since this is a Vista "Help" forum, there are enough posts here for folks to understand the premise of the original post. Let's get back to "Helping" users with problems on their machines.
