Chav's yes, but's that's discrimination. They'd probably have a go at you for chucking it at them, then try and flog it. When that fails they'd blag a refund from Dixons/Curry's/PC world by having a go at the manager for so long they'd walk out with an 80 Gig I Pod nano in exchange for it. Sorry, I shouldn't have said that, it should have read a 50" plasma screen. Seriously, joking apart, I know what a chav is, many young chav's have given me grief in the past, but we're discriminating and that's wrong. And though I know what a chav/chavette is, what's an EMO?
emo:
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=emo
there are lots of definitions of emo:
Genre of softcore punk music that integrates unenthusiastic melodramatic 17 year olds who dont smile, high pitched overwrought lyrics and inaudible guitar rifts with tight wool sweaters, tighter jeans, itchy scarfs (even in the summer), ripped chucks with favorite bands signature, black square rimmed glasses, and ebony greasy unwashed hair that is required to cover at least 3/5 ths of the face at an angle.
::sniff sniff:: "The Demise of the Siberian Traintracks of Our Rusty Forgotten Unblemished Love" sounds like it would make a great emo band name. ::cry::
or this one:
Punk music on estrogen. Often acoustic guitar with soft, high male vocals that dwell exessively on the singer's feelings, especially melancholy remembrances of past relationships/mistakes in life. A form of music that diverged from punk in the '80s, the name "emo" is derived from the emotive style of the lyrics and music. This genre has lately been marketed heavily by the music industry to teenagers with bands such as Dashboard Confessional and Taking Back Sunday, and has seen much commercial and mainstream success. The music has also spawned a subculture which conforms to certain conventions in dress such as tight sweatshirts, tight band T-shirts and horn-rim glasses. Adherents profess to exessively melancholy temperments. Males that adhere to the emo subculture are sometimes confused with metrosexuals; indeed the line between the two is somwhat blurred, though both groups claim to be intouch with their emotional side. The ephemeral and hackneyed nature of emo songwriting suggests that its audience will be restricted largely to teenagers. the genre suffers from a lack of credibility outside the aforementioned demographic group, much like current Nu Metal bands.

My 120MR initially had the less than useless firmware. After updating it (thank you!) it's been working fine.
However, I turned it off last night, and when I tried to turn it on today, absolutely nothing happened.
I've tried new batteries - nothing.
I've tried plugging it into different 2 computers (with and without batteries in the MP3 player)- nothing.
I've tried plugging it in using the recovery mode function - nothing.
Basically, it won't turn on, and no computer will recognise it as a USB mass storage device, let alone an MP3 player. It hasn't been dropped or damaged. It was turned off normally and left on a table overnight. It then failed to turn on this morning.
I'm beginning to think that there is an element of in-built obsolescence in these MP3 players!
Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know a way to get it working again?
well, it would seem that theres nothing you can do, unless you want to take it apart and look for damage...
get your money back, ebay it or throw it at someone you don't like, your choice

nope, nothing you can do... the exact same happened to me. you'll never revive it...join the club, we meet on thursdays
I read somewhere on this thread ( quite a while ago now ) that there is something called recovery mode, by doing certain things even a dead player can be brought back to life to be re flashed, sorry i cant point you to the post though.
good luck!
How do they get away with selling such a crappy defective product?? Im bringing mine back today-40€ is not much but still feels like a rip off!
D
its not that bad an mp3 player, hell, its broken less than my old packard bell audiodream, wait, it hasnt broken at all, guess im one of the lucky ones...
As you know, it's powered by A Sigmatel chipset. Sigmatel do chipsets for various makers including SanDisk (of the memory cards) including Sansa's. The 1 Gig Sansa has had mixed reviews (good and bad stopping working for no reason at all like the Matsui's, Trekkstore of Germany and others). Sigmatel are like Premier imaging in that they'll design to a price point. Premier make the cheapest of the cheap cameras like vivitar, Praktika, Goodmans and many others, as well as for the big names like Konica Minolta, Samsung, Pentax, Rollei, and other big names. The big names are great (as are some of the slesser knowns as they are copies of the big name cameras), but a lot of the lesser knowns are poor, as there hasn't been a big R&D budget. So while some Matsui/Logik stuff is terrible, some are ok. It's either pot luck, review sites like Ciao.co.uk (check out my reviews), or knowing someone who has one. On the subject of knowing someone who has, Currys/Dixons etc are doing a 4 Gig Logik (powered by sigmatel for an incredible half price £30.00. It has a 5 band custom EQ as well as presets, a link to dixons here: http://www.dixons.co.uk/martprd/store/dix_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0008598893.1175030166@@@@&BV_EngineID=cccjaddkhmjkmfecflgceggdhhmdgmk.0&page=Product&fm=0&sm=1&tm=0&sku=858046&category_oid=-29267 who are showing £40.00, but it's £30 in my currys. Is it any good?
every sigmatel powered mp3 player i've had has stopped working for some reason or another, except this one, so i have a feeling itll break soon enough, but im hoping it doesnt

These mp3 players are the worst i have come across...
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU BUY ONE (unless you want to spend pointless hours trying to fix it after it breaks) - ive had 2 both have been completely fkd up
and frankly i cant believe curry's and pc world are still selling them, my advice is take them back with a printout of this topic - they should give you a refund/exchange no questions asked.
That happened to me as well...somehow it managed to kill itself (although I guess I sped up the process a bit) and its now unable to write firmware data.
The player itself doesn't come up as a SigmaTel thing as it used to when I plugged it into the computer but now comes up as a "Player Recovery Device Class" and doesn't have the icon to the drive itself!
When I unplug it from the computer, it doesn't actually turn on...so yeah am finding someone I can throw it at in the meantime. Or possibly run it over in a car instead.
You could really find a better use for £20. I'll possibly spend it on food or something else rather than a Matsui product next time because its frankly as much use as a rock.
